Back in the 1.09 days, which were my heyday of Diablo II, the hotness for levelling was the Bloody Run. Rush through Normal Diablo, then do Bloody Runs in the Bloody foothills until you are ready for Nightmare, go get the quests done in Normal that are useful, then kill Normal Baal and repeat the process on Nightmare and Hell respectively. Now I see nary a single run that is Bloody, what happened?
Because Baal in normal is still way better exp than blood in NM. Then at 40 you can just jump into NM baals.

Baalruns and Chaosruns is the thing now.
Blizzard nerfed the popular game areas and character builds pretty heavily in 1.10 and beyond.

people do baal runs now
I guess that makes sense, since you can filter for normal games even after killing Baal now. Could not do that in the old days, killing Baal in normal meant you only saw Nightmare games.
Correct. It was always better to skip out on killing Baal unless you were the teleporter… Then you’d be the one to spin up the games anyway.
