What changes (if any) would D2 purists like?

“Yeah, my aggravation is from seeing the same behavior rampant for years outside of this game. Doesn’t seem to matter how small the issue either. People seem to either not care or get enraged. It could be as insignificant as pizza toppings or personal preference on how a steak is prepared and people blow up like somebody has threatened a family member.”

  • yep, the entitlement decade on full display. They grew up never understanding what “no” meant and think that everyone gets a trophy. It’s no surprise the logical outcome was a vast number of people with no real life skills and overly inflated egos.

“It’s exhausting. We can’t even discuss fun changes anymore. Granted some of these changes I see suggested make me wonder if people would be happier with one of those mobile games that plays for you lol.”

(Hahaha, I get called “boomer” too and I’m a millennial)

  • We may disagree on what we consider good changes, but it seems like you and I are adult enough to debate the facts rather than “ZOMG I DEMAND YES NOW”.

Curious - what changes are you interested in outside of what we have received via QoL? Not facetious - totally sincere question.

I made a post above with the list. It’s pretty much entirely skill based.

the mindset of Changelings would be a good start

Ah I missed that. Seems legit overall.

It doesn’t change core gameplay but rather is a way to enhance build variation.

see - this is a good example of quality suggestions, not wrecking the game by fundamentally redoing it to appease the D3 crowd.

Most active: 1.08 - 1.10

Think this is reasonable

  • Add potion descriptions.
  • Add in-game wikia, or:
    • Horadric Cube recipe book.
    • Runeword search page (with item type and attr tags).
    • Legendary and Set Item search page (with item type and attr tags).
  • Clan window and clan name tags.
  • Smarter search feature for games in the lobby.
  • Add remember settings feature for creating games in the lobby.
  • Sort players by region, last played with, and last spoken in the lobby.

This is strictly personal

  • Remove patch 1.10 and above, especially 1.11 and up.
  • Reduce item level restrictions to make it closer to 1.08 (reintroduces strength stacking).
  • Penalize the person who kills the Cow King, not the person who opened Cow Level.
  • Remove XP restrictions that ruined Cow Level.

Don't care about this

  • Add additional levels to the Sewers in Act II (85+ zones).
  • Add additional levels to Maggot's Lair in Act II (85+ zones).
  • Add a secret portal in Arcane Sanctuary (VV's signature, 85+ zone).
  • Add a medium large building and a couple of dungeons underneath it in Act IV.
  • Do almost anything with Kurast Bazaar dungeons.
  • Add additional waypoints or clean up waypoints in Act III.
  • Auto pickup arrows into the equipped quiver, but not the inventory, leaving the remaining arrows on the ground.
  • Improve lower tier set item bonuses to make them slightly better than rare items.
  • Keep symbol after killing Duriel.

That votekick could come in handy right about now. :innocent:

Did words hurt you??

the changes they announced, when they announced the game.

and som small QoL i would be fine with.

so iam not a purist. iam ok with som changes.

purist want zero changes.

Nah, but I’m glad we have such reporting features. It’s just a waste of reading time.

New content, sure, as long as it’s limited to items and not new game systems.

The problem here is that a lot of people confuse QoL (quality of life) features and Game design.

The most prominent example are the people wanting Personal Loot. That’s not a QoL feature, it’s a game-altering design change. THIS is what most purists are against.

Is purists want no changes, they can always play original D2. It still works.

A6 released in an expansion later on would be ok with me. Then everyone can make new purchase decision and buy it or stay with the traditional remaster.
What im not OK with is that they sell copy of D2R to me “as faithful to the original d2” like it says on their website and then end up doing huge changes afterwards anyway when i cant refund it anymore.

Reporting for what? Expressing that you’re behaving like you’re extremely fragile? Sure. If I got banned for that, it’s a badge of honor.

He’s trying to personally insult the opening post, direct TOS violation.

I didn’t personally insult anyone.

I don’t think I ever directed anything at you as a person – only your behavior.

That’s bannable because someone didn’t allow you to speak falsely and not call you out on it?

Like I said – If I got banned for that, it’s a badge of honor. Please, report me.

You’re confused, it was about the first reply that has been flagged already.

This is not about you at all, please check it all again.

Mental midget is a wonderful diss and shouldn’t be censored. Hogwash, it’s a great metaphor. Small brain. Not all things are bad if small. For example Porches, great car… small. I’d rather have small problems than big ones. People need to stop being so sensitive.

Personal insults are not allowed here.

Also I didn’t report him, it was already greyed out when I went to read on this post.

Yes, when something is a fact, it’s OK to say it.

therefore I repeat - its a remaster, not a reimagination or remake.

Whether it hurts feelings or not.

I think you’re better suited for D3, Mr. Horizon 94

Oh… well then perhaps I have misunderstood your posts. Apologies.

It’s fine, I don’t really like the format of replies on this forum, could be a easier.

lol those monster 400 post ones get super confusing when so many folks are chatting.
