Should we be expecting weekly maintenance for D2R or is the weekly downtime we’ve been having attributed to the new ladder release (correcting doodoo servers)?
Having to deal with this game being on Battle.Net app is already bad enough, but why does it feel like i"m playing WoW having to take downtimes during primetime for US weekday?
Was there weekly maintence for D2 LOD back in 2004? I was playing then as well, but I can’t recall/don’t believe this was a thing.

As long as they are continuing to update the game and the servers, probably so. Once the game and servers smooth over and become more stable, the maintenance periods will probably spread farther apart.
Comparing modern Battle.net to the original is comparing apples to oranges.
Ye I was afraid this was gonna be the case if they’re going to be making changes to D2 moving forward. Appreciate the response. Maybe I’ll just take my talents offline xd
12 ravens here we goooooooo
I mean, it’s two hours… Plan around it. They advertise on the Battle.net app above the game with a
symbol followed by a message.
For sure, White Knight. My original inquiry was because they are specifying the date each week like it’s a one off maintenance. & I haven’t checked the application since Sunday morning because the app is just bloatware and unnecessary.
In Europe it’s 7-9 pm, each Tuesday, so it could be worse.
Speaking of WoW, maintanance was split between regions and always late at night in each region. Feels like post sale services for everything nowadays are terrible and nobody cares.
4 hours later than it is now would be a much better window for all important regions (asia, eu and us).
Prolly to keep y’all from complaining about it, yet here we are
Launchers are ways software companies now advertise other games they make, but they also serve as easier authentication means, such as not having to enter a CD Key. There are other benefits as well, such as patching notifications you’re seeing. But yes, the primary reason is to make money. The secondary reasons actually make it easier for customers in many ways that people don’t think of.

Careful… We get enough white knights in here, a game of chess will be in order.

Amazing how people will defend weekly maintenance on a 20+ year old game that’s had, at most, minor changes since it’s release.
Wow has weekly maintenance so they can reset the raids, give the weekly vault rewards, reset mythics with new modifiers, reset weekly quests, etc. And somehow blizzard manages to schedule it so it’s always while your at work or asleep.
Seriously, WHAT ARE YOU MAINTANING BLIZZARD?
you do pay a monthly subscription for WoW (approx $105,000,000,000.00 per month revenue), so they care a tiny bit more than D2R.
they probably need to power down the servers and dust and vacuum lol
i gotta do weekly water changes on my 90g aquarium, perfect time to do it.
