We need an option to toggle Auto Aim!

As things are now, any attack or summon used while an enemy is “targeted” will aim for them directly. This can be a serious hindrance for many spells that travel forward or summon for various reasons. I don’t know why console games continue to use auto aim function WITHOUT an option to toggle it so players that prefer no auto aim function do not have to suffer…

PLEASE give this game an option to turn off Auto Aim! I would rather aim my Tornado spell in the direction I am facing instead of at a specific enemy.

Tornado spell never go to the target directly even in classic D2.We don’t need auto aim because on console is even more easy to aim at monsters with the left pad.On my level 5 fire bolt sors,i am like sniper running and killing everything with no problem to aim at the enemy.I can only advice ya to “git gut” and learn the mechanics of the controller

Not sure if defending Auto Aim or misread what I said, but what I want Tornado (and other spells like it, such as Molten Boulder) to do is NOT aim straight at a specific enemy. Such spells are best used simply fired in a desired direction to hit as many enemies as possible or to aim them right down a corridor, but Auto Aim screws that up. Also, it’s stupid that a summon spell can fail because the game is trying to aim it at an enemy with line of sight blocked.

I understand ya but i feel that, most of the things are just reskined and the old problems keep on with the remaster too.Hope they fix them too,Tornado is one of my favorite spells that never get to use cuz it goes always in directions far from monsters…

The only time i used Tornado as main skill, was on 94level softcore windy/enigma dudu, that just appear on the monster and when y left click y have 200% chance to always hit them.On low level and nongeared heroes, prefer the twister build instead of tornado one…

Yeah I just like Wind period myself so it makes me sad when I cannot utilize Tornado properly, and of course at low levels Twister doesn’t do much except slightly stunlock maybe.

Omg, and I thought my corpse explosion is problematic, where i aim to enemy group and instead my necro doea 180° to explode the body behind me…

Now i realise i wont even be able to use revive on the monster i want to revive…damn.

We aim with spells fine. The problem begins when we need to aim or target a speccific monster/corpse.

This is bad.

Your problem is also caused by Auto Aim, all the more making it necessary we be able to toggle it off!

Yes please have a toggle. Currently trying to play a Sorc and my firewall is always behind enemies because I cast it, they keep walking and it misses. I would love to choose where my wall goes.

I tend to get this issue a bit with Fissure as well because it takes a second for it to appear. Definitely feel your pain on Wall spells though. That is the type of spell that needs to be cast up to a set distance in front of you rather than on your target imo.

same goes to blizz and traps.

I’ve basically abandoned my Druid and switched to Barbarian now, at least until we can toggle auto aim.

Auto aim with a sorc … it is so bad ! You teleport to far, meteor and blizzard hit anywhere and frost orb and fire ball go directly on the wall when a ennemy is there!

So I think calling this “auto aim” is misleading, or incorrect at least. It is targeting for you, because, well, we aren’t playing with a mouse. The controller has many benefits over kb&m, but this is one of the situations that a mouse and kb is much better for. The solution is rather simple imo, what is missing with the controller controls is the “stand still” button. While holding this button on pc with keyboard, you can easily aim things like Tornados and such to go in the actual desired path you want. Instead, how it currently is without that function on console, you have to position yourself in relation to the enemies youre trying to hit, rather than just adjusting the angle youre casting from from your current position. Basically, this makes playing a Tornado wind druid on console rather similar to playing a Hammerdin, get up close and spam away. On PC, that isn’t the case.

It would be nice to have the option to be able to turn off auto targeting and have the mouse cursor for precision. Using a joystick to move is an improvement, but every other function the mouse cursor served was extremely useful.

I dont know know about an actual toggle feature but holding down a button to aim freely here and there for better accuracy isn’t a bad idea.
