We need a OLD team working on Diablo

I am talking about D1 and D2 developers working on a new
PC diablo project, doing what works, and replicating past success.

Well they were nerfing barb, buffing casters, added Enigma, Infinity, immunities, synergies that force you to put skill points in specific skills, wanted to turn Diablo into MMO and even said that remaster is almost impossible.

They made great core game (graphics style, atmosphere, music, characters, monster design) but rather poor endgame, trading, class balance.

Anyway they are still Diablo’s original creators and by this reason alone they obviously should work on it so I agree.

yeah I think even the original D3 was going to be a bad game. I can see from the original screenshots they have the same narrow linear pathways that D3 and D4 have. And the character standing poses don’t have the majestic look like the ones from D2.

Though I still think it would have been an enjoyable experience when it comes to atmosphere, items, and monsters. These are things that modern Blizzard is dog **** at doing.

I doubt M$/Blizzard would want to pay what Brevik & the Schaefer brothers would want, nor would they grant them the full control over the project as they would likely request. Also I doubt Brevik and the Schaefer brothers really want to work on it anyway.

Brevick said he’d never work with Blizzard again, even if they offered. Tho, I’m guessing he’d change his mind for the right offer and just say it’s different people now.

Dudes are retired, ain’t happnen

You give them too much credit. They did not even finish A4. PvP Mode is a joke.
Then completly overthrew what their game was standing for with 1.10 and practically made a new game out of it.
Of course…from Classic to LoD already was a cosmic shift in how the game was played.

They are still making games. Brevik is running Graybeard Games, which recently put out “It Lurks Below”. Erich Schaefer recently did Rebel Galaxy Outlaw and his brother Max did Torchlight 3. Getting them back together to do a new Diablo game in their old school style, with Matt Uelman back on music could be amazing.

There’s also the upcoming Moon Beast ARPG that’s got some of the old D2 team with Peter Hu, Phil Shenk, and maybe one or two others I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Unfortunately Torchlight went downhill with 3rd game and now mobile Torchlight Infinite. I tried it and was meh, didn’t really feel like 1-2. More like PoE gameplay with whole screen dying 1 hit.

Why? They werent any better than current team to fix peoblems.

I mean yeah they made great core of game, but game had many issues back then just like it has now.

Keep dreaming won’t happen. Times change and it’s best to just accept them. Let history stay what it was. The good Diablo games aren’t going anywhere. Can play em anytime

And that was mostly luck. Rest of the games they have made look like sh*t and are really bad.

Torchlight looks and feels like a joke, did not enjoy it at all.

It lurks below… yea, how the mighty have fallen.

I kind of liked torchlight 2, gameplay vise, but i just cant get pass that graphic stile. I dont like it.

They are already old an crazy, like the old Obi Wan, went into exile, lonely hermits somewhere in Moss Eisley, remembering their old glories.
