Warning: do not buy this game on switch!

Because you have to pay a subscription to unlock the following things…

*Multiplayer
*PVP
*Trading
*Rushing
*Ladder characters
*Ladder rune words
*Seasons
*Uber Diablo
*Ubers
*Annihilus small charms
*Hellfire torches
*Terror zones
*Sunder charms

And the worst part is even though all other Diablo 2 resurrected players get this stuff for free you have to pay for it and blizzard doesn’t care.

Yeah… and switches online services are really bad, nintendo should be ashamed of themselves for charging for it.

These are all available in offline single player, they are on PC at least.

I appreciate the thread, but Nintendo is the only console maker that doesn’t overcharge for online.

Xbox is 10 to 17 dollars a month. Ps5 is around the same. Nintendo is 20 bucks for a whole year, unless you get the expansion pack for it, where it’s 50.

Not to mention while you may get access to less overall games with Nintendo, even the base online version has nes and snes classics people pay a left nut for to have physical copies of.

I am not disputing that it sucks you have to pay extra. Just putting some perspective on what you get for those dollar bills.

I hear what you’re saying, and you’re right, they are cheaper than the other 2 consoles…
But the Nintendo 3ds online service was better, and completely free.
As far as I know, like the 3ds, the switch is all peer to peer connection. Without servers, the fee totally feels like they’re just tacking on an unnecessary bill where it’s always been free.

And yes it comes with a handful of their games from the NES and SNES, which is cool at first glance.
But allow me to be critical here…. Due to the temporary nature of nintendos e-shops, many of us have already bought these multiple times in the previous consoles e-shops tracing back to the original wii.

These purchases don’t transfer over to the new console. Then their old e shop closes, and you cannot redownload your purchases.

How many times does a guy have to buy Super Mario Bros 3 before he finally owns it lol.

Uber Diablo and the Annihilus small charm isn’t available because you would have to sell like a couple hundred sojs all by yourself. That’s not realistic.

And there’s only two or three builds in the entire game that can get a torch solo.

And as far as terror zones and sunder charms go I don’t know what version you were playing but the offline Nintendo switch version that I’m playing doesn’t have those.

You only need to sell a single SoJ to summon Uber Diablo in single player.

And there’s only two or three builds in the entire game that can get a torch solo.

There’s more builds that can do Ubers than that, some much more expensive that others of course. The Switch version of D2R is no different from PC in that regard.

And as far as terror zones and sunder charms go I don’t know what version you were playing but the offline Nintendo switch version that I’m playing doesn’t have those.

Now this might be partially true, on the PC version you have to go to the “game creation options” menu that only appears on the multiplayer character screen to enable Terror Zones in single player, I’m not sure if it’s the same on Switch since I admittedly don’t own D2R on the Switch.

I don’t give a crap if they have the best online service I’m not paying for something that everybody else gets for free.

And I don’t need to subscribe to Nintendo online to play old Nintendo games I still have all my old Nintendo games. I still have all my consoles and all my games going all the way back to Atari I don’t need to subscribe to play them on switch.

I don’t subscribe to video game online service crap. Period. End of discussion.

I bought 2 copies on switch, no problems here. If you have a Switch you should have the nintendo subscription so the point of having to buy something additional is silly, this 2024 console gaming folks. Game runs flawlessly for me. If anything, I’m more sad that switch only allows 4 player games instead of 8.

I’m glad that you have other reasons to have a Nintendo online subscription and that you get other things out of it.

But pretend you have empathy for a min and look at this through my eyes. For ME this would literally be a Diablo II Res subscription. Diablo II is the only thing that I would get out of having a Nintendo subscription. I wouldn’t use any of the other stuff. There would be no other benefits for me. And if I have to pay a Diablo II subscription I would prefer the money go to Blizzard.

Then why even buy a Switch versus something like a Steam Deck/ASUS rog ally?

1 SoJ spawns Dclone on offline in D2R now.

i love it when people try and warn you of things you had NO intention of ever doing, while they have already done it themselves and are now unhappy about it.

maybe YOU shouldn’t have bought it on switch. and then let us all know about your own terrible decisions. why do people keep doing this on this forum.

i would NEVER buy a game meant for pc for a console. that’s just stupid.

Thanks for not biting my head off when you responded

Have a great evening and good luck.

Depends on your POV

Single player can do:
Uber Diablo (thats anni)
Ubers (thats a torch)
Terror Zones are available
The latest patches are available
All runewords are available on single player

The ACTUAL reason not to on consoles…
– framerate
– controls
– Character Limit (the most annoying thing)

Yeah sure its lame to pay for online, but its portable. That being said, back in 2008 i hacked my psp 1000 and was able to get a remote host viewer (vnc if you would) to my pc and play handheld 18 years ago… wasnt as smooth as it is now, but the idea and application has been around for a long, long time if you are/were smart enough.

So if multiplayer is your thing, meh… 25 years after its launch… if thats what you need still… meh

How can any of this be true?

I’ve been considering buying a Switch to take along on my thru-hikes. The research I’ve done in the past few days regarding playing D2R on the Switch says nothing of these things.

The Switch 2 will have an odd tutorial that has to be paid for, but nothing about pay to play other than the initial purchase of a game, which has been greatly increased for the Switch 2.

When the topic was originally created, terror zones were (to the best of my knowledge) locked behind multiplayer, and multiplayer D2R on the switch is locked behind Nintendo Online.

how are these behind subscription?

*Ladder rune words
*Uber Diablo
*Ubers
*Annihilus small charms
*Hellfire torches
*Terror zones
*Sunder charms

They are available in SP

was that the case already in january 2024? I don’t recall the patch timeline …

The worst part is that the necro has black haie in the switch due to Poor performances/display
