Warlock not nerfed enough

Its only taken a handful of ppl a bit to figure out how to use them right again and theyre still the strongest in game by far. Need to fix amp damage so its not 100% chance like everyone doing with numerous mobs, and need to fix it so it stops proccing on casts and auras. Ctc amp is supposed to be on striking. Casts and auras arent supposed to proc on striking. Ctc amp is for a physical hit.

The bine demon is also still too strong. Tanks heralds without even getting dented.

This was in their desired changes, so maybe it is a bug if it still procs all the time? I noticed on the website there is a separate forum for “ptr bugs”

This makes me think

  • You have not played on PTR
  • You are just being a contrarian troll
  • You just want to be an edgy contrarian troll

Maxed demon bind & mastery, what you stated is simply not true. Almost as if you think nobody else has entered the PTR. Good reason it is often not good to do public beta testing.

They released a new build on the ptr, and yes amp is proccing almost every mob, though it did take 75% of diablos health for it to proc when it was just demon and merc jumping him

This is because holyfreeze’s aoe tick hits 30 monsters a second.. thats 30 5% chances to cast amplify damage

same with the inferno skill on the chosen demon, thats 20 chances to cast amplify damage per second, multiplied by the 3-4 monsters hit by each individual fireball

The correct answer is actually to lower it to a level 1 amplify damage, so it doesnt last very long, and only cast on the monster that triggered the proc (maybe 1-2 others if they are really close)

You can say that all you like, but theres already half a dozen videos showing it on youtube on the ptr. Just because you don’t understand how to do it doesn’t mean other people haven’t figured out how yet. The problem is once word gets out, it’s over. It becomes the meta. That’ll only take a few more days, max.

no, the correct answer is to fix the bug that makes casts and auras apply it when they never were supposed to in the first place. chance to cast amp is and always has been an on striking ability. casts and auras don’t strike. striking is specifically limited to a physical attack property. a strike has to come from physical damage on an impact. it’s a bug. this is why in no other build could you wear an atmas and proc amp yourself with holy freeze. it functions correctly there, just not on bind demons. Even if they lower this to 2%, it’s still going to proc almost all the time in packs the way they have it now. they just need to make it work correctly (only on physical hits by the demon) then to make it feel not completely useless, put it to 15-20%.

Why am need to proc on hit? Its a curse that is cast

you have a taintedlock now, PTR even create a template for that.

S+++++ tier, if no nerfs from PTR

because ALL chance to cast has always been on striking and is how it should always be. that’s how it’s always worked. you ask why? because if it’s not, you end up with broken and out of control mechanics like this.

While I agree that ES is still very strong, bind demon is completely gutted in ptr. Like nearly unusable.

again, this is just you not knowing how to use it. please do research. it’s already out there.

Again, this is you being extremely disingenuous. Go open the Firelock and grab a demon. In my case it was a wave 5 Baal minion. Now go into Terror zone and find a Herald. Now stand back and let the demon fight the Herald. How long does it survive?

In my first case, the Uber Ancients had its health down to about 10% in under a minute. I left to go to a Terror zone to find a herald. After a few minutes the Herald was still around 95%, my demon was about 40%. I left. Come back a few hours later and it was pretty much the same result. Except the 2nd Herald I faced actually killed my demon in about a minute or so.

But you feel the need to come here to flex, so you can have any and every chance to post idiotic responses such as

If this truly needs to be explain to you, well it is as I said before. There is a reason why public open betas are just bad ideas. Too many immature kids or manchilds feel it is more important to share their emotional need for ego over actually working to improve the game.

About the only reason people were really using bind demon was for the auras or to get some damage of a different damage type for immunities.

They made it harder to get the auras since it requires hard points now, so frankly I think removing all the good auras (and a few bad ones to be fair) from the pool was going too far.

this has nothing to do with mob ai. it’s a misrecognition of a proc condition. it doesn’t do this on mercenaries either, which is also ai, so you’re just flat out wrong. this is about the condition changing because it’s a bind demon, and nothing else. every single other measurable / testable environment in game shows an aura cannot apply a curse on hit. EVERYTHING else operates under these same conditions. Bind demon is the ONLY thing that doesn’t do this properly. You can teleport around and you nor your demon hit anything, and you’re cursing stuff. This is unintended.

the cursed mod literally is ctc-amp. it’s always been ctc-amp. nobody has EVER refuted this. it’s only now people are starting to because they don’t want warlocks fixed properly because it’s still too strong and they know it.

The only difference between cursed and a cats eye is, cursed has a 50% inherent chance proc rate. it was still conditional on physically being hit, but had a fairly high chance to go off.

Its only out of control if its use overpowers the build, and as they are reducing damage, no need to further reduce amp.

So, ES still cast not strike why locks should have AR-check for it?

Accroding to your logic.

According to every documented measurable test the game has EVER conducted. This isn’t conjecture.

This might be true for streamers, but I, for one, was trying to make a mainly summoner warlock for one of my warlocks. It was more fun for me than either of the eldritch or either of the chaos characters for me.

When I tried some hybrids, the bound demon felt scaled down and weaker with fewer points in the demon skill tree. This was all before the PTR. It baffled my mind to see the bound demon even changed for the PTR :man_facepalming:

mercs also have a different AI with different conditions

keep thinking you know something when you dont

just so you know
that AI is setup to have a chance to cast on dmg, not hit, not melee, any* dmg, unless its a inherent skill of that mob, like succubi and their curses, council and their hydras
cursed elites (usually) dont have any curse as inherent skill so they coded these extras skills to be activate on any dmg
any other skill a mob gets that its not inherent to his AI is going to fall under this same trap unless they literally create a new AI for each mob that controls his inherent skill + any skill he gets from a modifier
now what i DO NOT KNOW but i presume is that mobs with different inherent skill also demands a different AI, it seems so
there are people more qualified about the innerworks of this game than me here in these forums
*maybe minions summoned by mobs doesnt count as “his dmg” for the purposes of activating not inherent skills

limiting the casting of curses to be on hit only instead of dmg would throw mobs that tend to roam around casting things in the trash bc they tend to hit even less

Unfortunately Originalx9 never argues in good faith, provides sound counter arguments, or even tries to explain why they think they’re right, but they simply call people bad.

I believe they’re just a forum troll. It’s best to ignore them or block them (you can do so on your profile → prferences → users)
