How’s trading going to work on console or with controller without voice chat?
I don’t know about consoles, but Battle.net has integrated voice chat no matter what game you’re playing.
That said I bet you’ll see lots of Discord trading channels popping up.
I assume there is going to at least be keyboard support for console also. You can plug a keyboard into your Xbox or ps5 etc. It works that way on Path of Exile on console. PoE also has voice chat in groups though. Hopefully D2R does also.

Use Discord or Battle.Net Voice Chat.
Then don’t join VC I guess?
I don’t really think it is needed (at least for PC), but why should it bother me if other people want to use it?
If It’s Open Voice Chat in D2:R then GoodLuck. I hope there is no option for this in D2:R. Why even add a mic option when Discord and Battle.net Voice Chat exist. I want to enjoy playing the game without Toxic Mic Spammers aka Russians talking in Mic.

Xbox has party chat that does not require any game developer changes.
I’m not certain but I’m under the impression PlayStation has its own chat system to some extent even if not similar to xbox.
Yes, but some games have built in voice chat within the game. For example, Path of Exile does once you are grouped with people. I think OP wants something like this. I wouldn’t mind it myself. It’s always opt in. I’ll mainly be using a keyboard to type to rands if I’m not in their party chat though.
I get it but this would add the need of button customizations that would take away from buttons we need.
I’d much rather use the console specific party system over a game system.
I get the request but I know for me, I will be entering and exiting multiple game sessions early on.
It would be better to just have a xbox party set…and I create a game….folks click join my game in the party and there’s no need for text entry etc.

Isnt voice chat on consoles used to get access to IP which can lead to ddosing?
Oh my, if there was voice chat in this game 20 years ago, it would have been shut down for crimes against humanity.
