Venom Lord Immunity Break Bug?

I’m unsure if this is a bug - or if my math is just wrong but I’m having trouble breaking the Fire Immunity on the Venom Lord in Hell.

I am currently running a level 25 Conviction Aura with -150 all resists
I have a static -62 to enemy fire resist from gear.

This brings my total negative fire resist to enemy mobs to 212. Which in hell should be a fifth of that, so -42.4 enemy fire resist in hell.

The Venom Lord has a total of 130 fire resist, so that -42.4 should bring his fire resist down to 87.6 rendering him no longer immune to fire based on the math that I’m aware of.

Am I calculating this correctly and this is not working as intended? Or am I wrong in the findings of this?

I make it quick:

Only Convinction and Lower resist can break immunity‘s. Other methods to lower an enemy’s resistance (Cold Mastery, Rainbow Facets, -Enemy Lightning Resistance on Griffon’s Eye, etc.) cannot remove an immunity.

So you are exactly on 100% Fire res left.

It doesn’t work like that. Dificulty level doesn’t affect the math.

You can only break immunities actively using Conviction Aura or Lower Resist Curse.
If those spells break an inmunity, then they only work at 20%, that is, a -150% resistance aura, can only reduce the resistance by -30%.
After applying this effect, if the monster resistance is below +100%, then the other -enemy resistance applies on full effect.

In your case:

  • A monster with +130 fire resis or higher will remain immune (+130% - 30% from conviction = +100%)
  • A monster with +110 fire resis will have +18% (110%-30%=80% and then -62% from gear = +18% fire resis)
  • A monster with +70% fire resis will have -100% fire resis (+70-150= -80% and then -62% from gear = -100% because it cannot drop below -100%)

What the other users said. You can only break them with conviction and lower res curse. They need to change this imo. All -to enemy res should be taken into consideration. That or they should change the max fire and cold res on a regular monster to match that of a lightning immune monster. If they did that, lvl 12 conviction could break them all like it does for lightning.
