Update Fear / Attract Skills for PVP

It would be nice is fear / attract skills, such as Barbarians howl, and taunt, worked against opponents in pvp, causing your opponent to briefly run towards or away.

I always found it weird how the barbs taunts/fears don’t work on other players as well. Do any other characters have spells that don’t work in PVP?

stun, confuse, attract, fear, they all have no effect on players. they ONLY affect AI, which is why you can fight blunderbores while your merc stands there being bashed repeatedly while he stands there stunned. I never saw attract used in pvp though, but this could be an interesting concept. imagine one necro using it on another who has a minion army, and the army just decimates him lol…

but yeah, fear and stuff dont work because the player characters have a stronger mind(we chase fear into hell, how can we expect fear to work on us if we litterally get fear to run away from us?).

so I think, attract should work in pvp…since it doesnt affect the players mind, but rather the minds of ai around them. so using attract on player wouldnt make them targetable from other players not hostile to them, but the minions/pets/mercs would target the attracted player regardless. this can create a whole new dynamic in pve as well…imagine fighting those pit bosses who use attract? knowing your army could whipe you off the map would suddenly make you more cautious about gettin hit wth attract. it would also mean your minions/mercs would be in danger if they got hit by attract.

this whole idea being written out makes me realize that if attract worked against players, minions, pets, or mercs then it would be insanely over powered. so much so, that summon classes would be obsolete in a5. which is pretty sad since summon classes dont even have a high kill speed anyway, so it’s like kicking a dead horse.

It would be too op. If you wanna taste of this then try D3. When you fear you run in the opposite direction uncontrolably into what ever happens to be in the way.

at least have them work on pets, summons, merc, ai, etc.

howl does work on those

Make Amazon Guided Arrow

great again in pvp.

Amazon 2024

It could be balanced then. Curse length reduction (or even immunity as a very rare affix, much like CBF), cooldowns, diminishing returns on subsequent casts…

Just my opinion but I really dislike losing control of my character in video games
when it’s something that can’t be seen coming, or dodged.
I hated that run away mechanic in d4. The teeth clacking little skull animation annoyed me even more lol.
