I only play ladder due to the exclusive content on the ladder.
But if stable servers are not something that can be maintained, could the new content just be unlocked on SP officially?
I assume there are mods that might do this, but if using mods that unlock ladder exclusive content in SP is not a problem, why not just unlock it officially?
Not sure what you’re talking about. Everything that’s available in current ladder works in SP. TZ, new runewords, etc…

Thank you, I misread the patch notes
I made that mistake myself recently.
I was under the impression that the devs would add the current new RWs to non ladder and single player whenever the next season hits.
That was their original thought process during the Llama stream. However, once 2.4 hit, they decided to just add everything to offline, to which I assume the reasoning was that modders would just add it anyways. Everything worked offline when 2.4 hit, even before Ladder season itself. When season 2 rolled around, there was no mention of Season 1 stuff moving to non-ladder, until Pez answered someone on either Reddit or Twitter, than the devs were waiting until new runewords were added to make the switch to non ladder. I’m actually surprised that they moved Sunders and the Cube recipes to non-ladder for Season 3, considering no new TZ Zone items nor cube recipes added.
I’d honestly just appreciate if they were a bit more consistent and transparent with this kinda stuff.

Yeah, they could even use that forum they have to tell us… Oh what is it called… The Official Diablo II: Resurrected forum?
Heh… Hah. Heheheh… Bwahahahahaha!!!
Hopefully if/when Micro$oft takes over, things will change.

Ehh, doubtful, at least as far as D2R is concerned. Throw it on gamepass, and forget about it, outside of the small seasonal patches for as long as they decide that the community is relevant. I’m less convinced that the deal will go through anyways, unless Kotick is able to grease the regulators and make a few small concessions to appease Sony, Google, and a few others.
Well hopefully Microsoft might give them a bit more of a budget to work with. It seems like ever since Bobby Kotick and Co. took over, Blizzard has done nothing but nosedive with customer relations, support, and botched game/patch releases. Activision seems to have sucked the soul out of Blizzard… Blizzard of old used to be synonymous with quality, polished games, even delaying releases if they deemed they weren’t ready.

Again, doubtful. The budget will be concerned with D4 and it’s expansions, which will be pretty much the only concern I’d have with ActiBlizz for the next 15-20 years, because I’m not predicting a D5 for that long, if ever. For D2R, I’d say if MS deal did go through, most elaborate money would be for adding cross play between Xbox and PC.
It makes me very happy and slightly sad to realize that everything is available in SP. The only reason I started the season 3 ladder was because I was under the impression the 8 new runewords were ladder only.
It was a huge relief after today’s server problems to realize I could just play SP. After spending a few hours in SP I have a feeling I might never comeback to playing online. There is a weird sense of progression that I missed when I was playing online that makes SP feel even more enjoyable.
Thanks again to BattleBorn (the poster who pointed out it was all available in SP).

The only two problems with offline, are no tcp/ip to occasionally play with/help someone you want to play with and the biggest, which is you really need to stay on top of backing up your save files due to the character files and shared stash files for offline being easily corrupted. That’s the main reason I went back online for Season 1 after 2.4, is to play with my father and I got tired of trying to remember where I saved my last backup, since I kept two separate backup files to be on the safe side.
So yeah, if you are going to dedicate time to offline play, ensure that you stay on top of backing up your save folder. Game crashes and power outages seem to be the biggest causes of D2R corrupting the save files.

No problem mate. Once I found this out a few patches ago I went SP as well and never looked back. So much better imo. Ladder has never been my thing anyways, just like to chill and kill some monsters ssf/sp ftw.
Because it’s the incentive to play ladder. They should unlock ladder content for single player though, but when the season ends at the same time nonladder gets access.
That’s true for NL but they gave everything to SP right away.
If people like ladder truly for the fresh start, fresh economy, and race to 99 as most claim, then they shouldn’t need additional artificial incentive to play it. Forcing people that don’t care about those things to play ladder anyway or be content-gated is poor practice IMO, but it is what it is.
