Arcane Sanctuary’s floor is so shiny! The reflection of my skellies on Arcane Sanctuary’s floor startled me. Nice job to the peeps responsible with this additional rendering thingies.
reflections in this game on the whole are pretty dope.

I think the pandemonium fortress looks amazing. Honestly whoever did the environment art is the MVP of this. Corporate needs to go tho.
Yea, i really like the updated art. I mean, thats pretty much why i bought it. Well, aside from the obvious, its D2.
I keep stopping places and hitting F to zoom in. Candles flickering off goo and blood in the sewers. Reflections in the Arcane Sanctuary. Details on every single tiny rock, plant, cage, skull.
The art work is insanely good.
I rather hope D4 uses this as well. It is realistic, gritty, dark, detailed, etc.
Does anyone have a favorite area of the game art wise? Like if you could magically screenshot and make a poster for your office/game room?
yeah the graphics are amazing. Even my son, who doesn’t play D2 (he’s a first person shooter fan), he stops by my PC when I’m playing and just watches for a few minutes, comments on how amazing the graphics are, and moves on. at least every other day.
V-V did an amazing job on this remaster. Probably the best one I’ve seen to date. Now if they just got the server issue resolved, and perhaps even did some balancing and fixing on underused skills, this would be the game of the decade IMO.
They have tools and resources that the original team did not, and could take this game to the next level. It’s only Activision that can break this progress.
Arcane Sanctuary was one of the places I was most excited to see and was not disappointed at all.
There is so much attention to detail in the graphic update, it is hard to pick a favorite.
Anyone else stop here and there and change it to legacy to give you an idea of all the ressurected graphics ?
Same here. Notice the different styles of waypoints too between acts.
Nah, i have d2 og running sometimes on the side. I get it, people are gonna use the mode, but i really bought it for the shiny updated graphics.
I do that often and I think VV did outstanding, while still maintaining that D2 feel.
there must have been a guy on the development team who was a reflection specialist.
I dont have a copy of the og one atm ^^ not since 12 ys ago lol , so i use legacy mode for a second or two and enjoy the work they put in those shiny graphic
Edit: yes i also bought it for the same reason , else id rebought the og one
Edit 2 : This a good and fun thread , hope people keep it going , they’ve seen our discontent enough in other thread , gotta throw them some cheers where deserved !
Well, the same thing happens in WoW.
The people in charge of art and sound are the ones who keep the game afloat.
Sadly, the rest of the decisions made in WoW are pretty bad.
Like it or not, the D2R team is working pretty fast.
In WoW it can take MONTHS or YEARS for them to make a change requested by the players and many times “it is a change with the Blizzard touch” and it is the opposite of what the players asked for.
it looks wet.
idk if i like it heh
Yep the Summoner likes to keep his floors real nice and lubed up
Yeah the look of this game is pretty much perfect. It’s how D2 should look in 2021. My favorite area is all of act 1, both dungeons and outdoor areas.
Edit- my only real complaint is how bad the original game looks on the legacy toggle. I’ve had D2 running side by side with D2R legacy and D2R looks terrible in comparison, more pixelated and just worse. I don’t know anything about the technical side but I wish there was a little more work put in here.
I’m telling you, if you really pay attention you can tell Vicarious Visions really put their heart and soul into this remaster.
Its a shame their beautiful work is being overshadowed by server/client instability which I suspect has nothing to do with them.
Do they outsource art design and graphics for WoW now too?
Blizzard knows how to make good looking games. D2R is very pretty while still retaining the doom and gloom feeling with muted colors from the original and not like D3 that in comparison feels like staring at a bright rainbow.
