Then the past 4 days it has been down from around 5:30 am to 9 or 10am Pacific time. So 3-4 hours each day for the past 4 days?
lol im glad i didnt play this morning… then… isnt that sad… that im glad i didnt play a game i wanted to play because im glad i didnt waste my time or find and amazing item to just get it rolled-back… like my time is meaningless…
-__-
im sorry but unless the diablo 2 server upkeep budget is $3.50 i dont think a billion dollar company has any excuses…
By the time the server issues are resolved i have so many hours of overtime collected that i can take a week of to play the game.
You got to love the home office and server down times if you need hours for more days off!

You forgot “you could just play offline”
Appreciate the insight… I think we all would just like to play with friends… right?
Is it too much to ask to be able to play with a friend through another method other than Battle.net? That’s all we want instead we’re told “ENJOY”. It’s abysmal being forced to play on the battle.net ecosystem that clearly doesn’t function. I wonder what the solution could be? TCP/IP rings a bell, old technology that is proven & works. It could provide some semblance of multiplayer at this time but blizzard prefers not to give any sort of freedom to the players. Yes, I know they removed it for security reasons. Never really explaining what the threat of TCP/IP was because clearly piracy was the only threat. We would use tcp/ip to connect to known IP’s. Anyway my rant is nearly over but TCP/IP would be one hell of a come back for a game that’s future will be stone walled to single player.
I’ll never understand it’s removal for the sake of control over functionality. Back to OG D2 i guess & I just got on with the avx debacle finally being fixed
Well, lets talk about that. You are not wrong that it can help. Old Bnet for D2 (2000) and LoD (2001) has that, along with a ton of other restrictions. It auto suspends the account if you trip that switch.
Those limits often booted people with no warning and kept them out for 2 weeks (VPN or commercial ISP).
Modern Bnet with the newer or remastered games does not have those limits.
VPNs are now part of security and browser packages and are super common. They are not supported by Blizz, but they are also not prohibited. Tech will even suggest using a VPN to take a diff path to the servers as part of troubleshooting connection/routing issues.
The question is, would adding a VPN restriction help? Or would it end up being more negative for the customers instead. Would it really resolve anything besides pissing customers off who forget to turn off a VPN.
Well that is a small silver lining for you anyway! Glad you have an overtime option so you can get extra pay or extra free time when you want it. Epic Thanksgiving vacation or something even. Mountain retreat to watch snow fall around a fire.
I don’t know how it is handled in the US (or anywhere else) since i am from germany but even here you have to earn the trust and reputation at work to be able to do that. It’s different from company to company though and obviously you need the right people at the top that support that idea of overtime.
EDIT: Quick update from CS over in the technical forum
My initial guess was that this is an inside-job, someone purposefully crippling these servers, now that it has a player base, the backlash is greater.
Really? You do? You’ve been around a WHILE and THIS is what you expect from them? That’s just cute.
Doesn’t need to suspend the account. Refuse connection and a lil popup that says “turn off your vpn”. Vpn off, resume play. Problem solved.
Thanks. That is an “aware working on it” type thing from what I can see. With a link to the CS Twitter. No ETA on a fix.
Oh, I just have few question which I really want to ask Blizzard after I know the answer.
First of all, you know most of D2R customers would play online. Then why don’t you prepare for it.
Second, You know that you can set it to be able to play same hero on both online and offline which save your seats for other players, why you lock it separately which effect service.

EDIT:
Today’s login and game creation issues have been resolved. Thanks for your continued patience and apologies for any inconvenience.
I can answer this. Online saves are server side so that players can’t alter the data to create super items, char stats, etc. It prevents that type of cheating from being online.
If you could move them back and forth, people would alter the char save files on the computer then put them back on the server. Even old D2 (2000) did not let offline chars on the Bnet official servers.
MVP’s copiuming hard for activision, oof

Crady…you are cray cray, you know that? Take your buzz words and buzz off.
If you have anything to actually post to HELP players, then go do that.

Its extremely sad that I learned more about these issues and ways to protect myself from an MVP who has no relation to blizzard then the company running the game. Thanks for this. I wish Blizzard had the forethought to do something like this instead of just apologizing and asking for patience every day. I miss old Blizzard. its why my expectations are so high and I get so frustrated. I know they are capable of putting out very very good games that work flawlessly. I’ve lived it. Just wish they remembered their roots and actually did something productive. Can’t help but wonder if misconduct is the only thing they are consistent with these days.
This is crazy. How am I supposed to run 500 Pindles and get absolutely jack $h!t if I cannot even login?
Edit: Take that back. Was just able to login and on my first Pindle run, Ort rune! Score!

They say the character problems are fixed but one of 10 characters is missing, how do i get him back?
@MissCheetah and others - I have a hypothesis. All these server downs are too suspicious recently and for sure not caused by ton of players joining same time. IT SMELLS DUPING METHOD was found. Imagine - create char on Americas, fill it with JAHs. Go to Europe, drop all JAHs for friend to pick up. Spam-crash Americas, voila you rollback and have your JAHs again. Maybe… if I can think of such a crap, smarter people did that for sure. Rollbacks always smell as duping method’s around. They are trying until it’s patched IMO.
