Trying to get an SOJ. Is it futile to do this on 1 player?

I got my SOJ when I was doing Andy farming runs on hell but ended up getting it on a trash mob that died while I was killing Andy.

nm andy has a drop chance of 1:7800
Hell any about 1:13000

so 300 runs wont cut it usually.
Could take 1 run or could take 30000 runs

Alternatively, you can run hell, trade items that drop for runes, and buy a soj with runes

yes you should do that till people realize that runes are way harder to get than those uniques and put your stash full of HRs as much as you possibly can, later than trade low runes back for the uniques you want :stuck_out_tongue:

pretty sure an SOJ won’t be worth an ohm rune anymore in a month. So for those people who can wait for that, it is definitely better to aim for the big runes first even though you keep running around in trash gear.

3 have dropped for me so far all solo play, just a matter of luck.

There is not a big difference between 1 and 3 players. Dbrunski has two videos one was a thousand hell andariel runs for 100 unique rings and 1 out of a hundred was a soj. 2000 runs nightmare andariel for 100 and found 3 soj.
Those are roughly the odds you are looking at in practical sense with nightmare Andy being best odds with roughly 3/100 rings being soj. The odds are still quite small

Nah, the difference is pretty big, he just got lucky.

1:7799 on p1
1:6422 on p3
1:6320 on p5
1:6311 on p7

so it is rather the difference between p3 and p7 is absolutely not worth it, but between p1 and p3 is a HUGE difference.

Number of players doesn’t change mf. It changes the no drop rate. If you bug andy to always get quest drops you still have to get lucky but at players 1 there is just a higher chance she will not drop anything at all.

diablo has 2 hard rules in my book:
rule 1 is don’t drop items on ground unless you are okay with losing them.

rule 2 (and this is the pertinent one) you will never get an item you are trying to get.

as per your question quest bugged NM andy is by far the highest chance of getting SoJ but as per rule 2 farming her for it means you wont get it, i would farm for something else and maybe you will have a chance at it.

case in point my only SoJ so far of d2r came from hell meph the worst boss you can kill for soj. (of the bosses that can drop it yes andy duri and meph in normal are worse as they have 0 chance of it dropping.)

Loot quality does not change in higher number of people in game all it does is effect the ā€œNo Drop Chanceā€ from happening which then effects the chance for more items.

You could still do 100,000 cows and not get anything. Then you have to factor kill time. Is it quicker to kill in 3-4 Player group than 8 Players? Most farmers will try do 3 player game as you can kill stuff fast still and ā€œNo Loot Chanceā€ is dropped by like 70% from most things.
