Trying to figure out modding/offline

I’m not looking to get my online side banned, or even mod online.
And frankly, I’m a bit too tired to really keep digging further than I have.

So simply put; how would I set this up so I can use mods offline, without messing with the online side of things?

While I have not used any myself, it seems what I read from looking over the mods on Nexus Mods is that most use a separate file folder that you link to by utilizing the additional command line under the gear option in the Blizzard Launcher. Thus, anytime you wish to play online, you can simply remove that command line.

To be honest though, I have not seen a mod really worth bothering with, unless you wish to use loot filter offline. With D2R being under live service, patches could potentially break mods and mod makers would have to continue being active in developing their mod. I know the Gomule program people had been using, was broke after the 2.4 patch. Odds are, you’ll find a mod with a feature you like, then the game’s next update will either feature it anyways, or break the mod and might ruin your character files (always back up frequently when playing SP).

think i still recall there was a mod to disable online or so over at nexus mods or at phrozen keep discord.

Here is a modding site for D2R:

There is guides, some mod releases and links to modding tools you will need.

basicly, what you do is unpack the game with Ladik’s Casc Viewer, then you just copy and paste the mods you have downloaded, they usually have good instructions and when you run the game, you go to game settings, additional command line arguments and write -direct -txt

Doing it this way will separete the mods for offline and online battlenet.

When you wish to play online again you simply remove the -direct -txt commands.

Hoping someone replies here with the info shown above but I am in the same boat of wanting to swap between online and offline modded. I have 2 launcher exe’s 1 with the command line and the other left alone as default.

So will this work all the same like shown in this comment?

I recommend this guy. Watch his first two videos on modding D2R.
(in the order shown.)

In the first vid, he details a more long-form method, but he also details some of the tools you’ll need, regardless of which method you end up using.

The second vid discusses a short-form method (of which he was unaware when he made the first vid); kind of a short-cut of the method shown in the first vid.
But still watch the first vid. There is general info you still need in that vid.

Once you have those basics, he has a few other tutorials of basic mods for the game.
