Tp to town never killed anyone in original D2

But in D2R it happens to you if the least damage is upon you and you enter a tp to town:
You will be dead many times in D2R, because you are not actually teleporting to town.
You are standing in danger and ripping before you actually find yourself in town a few seconds later.

Server issues 101.
Original D2 is a much better core game than D2R right now.

Please make me wrong when you finally announce Season 1 a year from now!

Interesting post.

It sounds like you’re implying that this issue is the core game of D2? I’m just inquiring for understanding. To me, while this is unfortunate, doesn’t hold enough weight to fall into the core of the game. Please correct me if I’m not understanding you. Thanks.

pretty sure he just means the basic function of tping out was smoother than in legacy than it is now.

People die left and right looking at load screens while their char is destroyed. This wasn’t an issue before. Make HC stupid risky.

Okay thanks. Yes I got the part about them having issues with TP to town. I actually have never had this happen to me where I died trying to get to town because of a load screen. I have actually had the inverse where when transporting to a location, on the server I’m already at that location while my computer continues to load.

You’re right about hardcore! I have purposely steered away from HC on bnet because it’s obvious they are working things out. I think this is a pretty common take and in that case, this bug would affect the core experience in a negative way.

However, I still don’t see this is as the “core” of the game, if that is what they are implying. I rather see it as a bug or a lackluster choice in code design that needs to be reevaluated so it can be improved if possible. In other words, this seems infrastructure related via server or game code itself.

When I was leveling at the beginning of release, I would tp to town to save my merc from ripping and too many times when you merc is at half life in D2R, when you get to town your merc is dead.
(costs too much gold when you’re merc keeps dying.)

Again, in D2 original once you tele to town to save your merc, your merc is not dead in town if you tp’d before he ripped in the game.

False.

Other players used to be able to tp to town and hostile you and have their spells and projectiles immediately hit you and kill you.

Before you actually made a tp.

So you are wrong.

Fact.

Are you having trouble comprehending what he wrote?

He said they tp to town. Hostile you and have their spells immediately hit you.

That’s a fact and would happen exactly like that.

Example: I cast a bunch of hydras/traps outside. I go back to town. The second I hostile everyone my hydras/traps start lighting them up.

Nothing he said was wrong.

Traps vanish when you go into tp. So does hydras tested it in game now.
You need to walk/teleport to town for them to stay, while still be withing 1,5screen of them.
So you could at best cast blizzard or spawn some projectiles and hostile someone to get few hits in at best.

He was talking about original d2/lod not d2r. Reading is hard, I know.

You’re one of those PvP players using addon’s.
That’s how your hydras/traps stay active.

How embarrassing for you, you haven’t played in years and forgot about all the hacks you used to kill others in NS PvP games.
