Tornado pathing buff please

can we get a little QOL here

like just make the tornados go in a straight line… i get that tornados are supposed to be “unpredictable” but i really dont like have rng involved in my spells.

if i cast at something, i want my attack to go in that direction.
ive had tornados practically hook corners before. completely no where near where i intended them to go. often if there is a monster on screen and i cast a tornado on it, it will zigzag completely around it.

the spell can literally do an 90* elbow. and it should not ever do that

also a little faster travel speed would be nice. and a longer range would be nice to.

maybe you should try a different class druid doesn’t seem to fit your rng spells dislike

A tornado flies predictably only on level ground. If there is an obstacle sometimes it becomes very difficult to hit, just the monster in the corner.
Although I went through hell on PTR in full mf (helmet and body with topazes and yellow other things with 1 spirit) without difficulty.

there is nothing wrong with the power level of the wind druid

its just a QOL change i would like to see.

i can post video of tornados doing 90* bends away from monsters. its a very odd mechanic. i would rather just have my nado’s go in a line with a slight zigzag at most.
and a little faster travel speed.

“maybe you should try a different class druid doesn’t seem to fit your rng spells dislike”
ive played this game for so long and every class… i have nothing left to do but complain to be honest.

if you want a predictable straight line projectile, play something else - there are plenty of skills - all bowazon skills, fireball, lightning, bone spear…

if everything in this game will shoot like a fireball it will be boring

skills need to have pros and cons. If everything is just pros, the only reason to make choices is flavor, and there is less capacity for skill

what you are suggesting is not a QOL, it is a big buff - you will hit way more tornadoes successfully and with much less effort with it.

You know that’s part of the balance for tornados, right? Tornados are like, super OP massive physical damage, in combination with your massive AoE cold damage hurricane, which is no slouch for damage either. And yeah, that’s also part of it thematically, Tornadoes don’t go in straight lines, they bend and twist and go all sort of directions (be lucky/thankful they go as straight as they do, honestly). So idk man. If you want them to go straight, you’d be okay with a 33% reduction in damage then, right? But I’m gonna guess you don’t actually want that, do you…so really you just want an already S tier build to get a big buff. For…reasons.

I agree that it should be changed, tornado druid is honestly unplayable for me without enigma.

Tornados should not go straight lines, though they currently can really make sharp turns which can be quite frustrating. Making them a bit more predictable would be great.

Can you handle the damage nerf tornados should get if they are 100% accurate?

I mean the blizzard spell was designed with a dead spot to encourage kiting mobs through it

It was done purposefully to need to adapt a certain play style.

They could travel a little faster and go a little further. Wouldn’t change their random direction because like people have said, they are balanced around it.

is it what PD2 did, alongside with making blizzard and fissure “more uniform”, meteor fall faster, etc., remove the quirkiness from the spells? Personally, not a fan.

I think the Tornado may be a bit “unsatisfying” to use, because it’s sometimes hard to see if it dealt the damage or not (unlike with elemental spells, where you always see a little flicker of fire\cold\shock on the enemy or hear a distinct sounds when an attack connects)

I think some visual or audio cue when tornado connects would solve its problem

hahahaha i just got my first wind druid up to lvl84 and i find the same issue with tornado … even when i teleport right on top of enemy i have nados just go left and right sometimes !!! its hilarious to me… but not efficient in killing things when it does that! so i agree with u 100%

very true i never thought about it from this point ! i retract my last post on this thread ahahah!

i have never had an issue with tornado, without and with enigma.

you learn where to click, pathing is consistent in that regard if you orient the cast accordingly. if you see one straying away, adjust where you click…

in regard to having a more noticeable animation when hitting an enemy, i am all for that.

thats all i am asking.

when i mean “straight line” i mean like… not rounding corners

I mean. It’s pretty predictable. I’ve never had an issue hitting anything. I think it’s fine. And I’m using it in pvp where players are far harder to hit than monsters.

Besides it would look pretty dumb just going in a perfectly linear line. Not very tornado like.

Not to mention it’s a literal non-issue for wind druids as their main form of attack is tele-stomping, where tornadoes have no chance of missing. Not to mention the tornadoes as they are now is sorta often a good thing? It’s essentially more AoE damage/spread, a zigzag is going to cover more ground/area than a straight line. It’s truly a non-issue.

I would prefer it if Tornados ricocheted off walls and barriers along with a longer range to them. Would make areas like the Maggot Lair less of a nightmare to slog through.

How about you stay close to mobs when doing tornado?
