I don’t know about everyone else, but playing melee fighters or bow amazons with these screen-filling flame effects running is very distracting.
You could make it optional, with a turn off/on switch.
But it slows down the FPS and is incredibly distracting during gameplay. You can hardly see anything, especially other effects. When I want to play a werewolf hurricane or tornado build, I don’t have to deal with flame storms, but I’m constantly overwhelmed by these huge fans of fire.
Or a Bowie, constantly with a wave of flames. Basically, it’s just annoying to have these flame storms that overload everything.
I’m in favor of removing it, or at least making it optional to turn on/off.
The Torch isn’t exactly unimportant, so leaving it out would mean losing too many bonuses.
Yeah, well my problem with effects like this is that without synergy, they do no damage. In their current state, you
May as well get rid of the effects.
Rather than getting rid of it, I’d like to see it happen less often, but when it does happen, let it do significant damage, so that you look forward to seeing the effect.
Imagine if that fire was able to actually kill mobs
what are you folks babling about… if it slows down your FPS then turn down the visual settings, as the gpu can’t handle it…
As for me The Diablo Firestorm wich you speak about is a lifesaver, especially for monsters that aren’t being undead or demon, and/or are immune to physical damage… my strafe bowa cetainly apreciates the proc, that can trigger a couple of times per second with my setup, which greatly helps out with damaging said monsters… and while bone break contributes to damage, it most of the time isn’t enaugh to solve the problem without the torch’s procs…
just to remind those that skipped D2Lod modding… the firestorm from the torch is not druid skill: “Firestorm” but rather Diablo skill: “Firestorm” it does far more damage than driud skill Forestorm lvl 10, you can easily tell it’s Diablo firestorm by the graphics… 5% ctc seems fine to me and i do agree that 25% ctc was an overkill…
the devs dropped ctc because it used to melt the servers for characters like strafe bowa, and if one on top would use my build, the servers would indeed catch fire.
The point is that this torch effect is completely exaggerated and is constantly triggered, which is just annoying because it overloads everything and sometimes doesn’t fit the builds at all. The torch is great because of its stats, but not because of this annoying effect.
If you don’t want to remove it, then lower the proc chance to 0.5-1% and increase the damage, as far as I’m concerned. But I don’t care, because I’m just annoyed by this effect, which you can’t avoid and which makes every non-mage class a burden.
disagree wwbarb and ww sin are unlikely to proc this…
also slowly attacking and hard hitting melee characters like the charger aren’t so much affected by this… only fast hitting melee classes like the sh1tsaic sin or furymutt druid, frenzy barb, throwbarb or strafe bowa are affected by this… ww is fine since it can’t proc the ctc procs regardles if barb or sin, tho i agree that it’s too much effects while plaing sh1tsaic sin, it’s actually beneficial for others…
damn didn’t know there was still ppl with a pc from 1995 o.O, although even old pc were fine handling that…only thing i remember crashing D2 back then was bone prison/wall spam from Necro skills
time to update your old potato or net connection…Bell Fiber is optionnal though unless you play US servers from Australia…although i dont think Bell Fiber is available over there at time being
while i play on a potao i’m not the one complainig on FPS drops from torch… and i do have opticfiber though not from some “Bell” but rather a local ISP 900/450 Mbps actually, i could opt for 1/1 Gbps however i prefer other QoL the current ISP provides while the other one doesnt

Firestorm procs from Torches was my original Mosaic screen vomit, lol! I hate the procs so much, I don’t even use Torches on my rapid physical attackers, bonuses be damned. They could really stand to tone it down somehow. As is, I still wouldn’t use it on them even if the damage was respectable, the visuals are so annoying.
You can probably guess my feelings about Mosaic’s visuals.
I mean I get the theme for Torches, it’s kinda cool in theory, but jeebus. Like others have suggested, cast less often, but be (much) more powerful when cast.
P.S., About the “Les” thing: It’s uncommon, but sometimes Leslie is used as male name in the west too.
i miss it when it was 25% it was nerfed to 5% because people complained about it activating all the time.
but honestly its a decent chunk of damage for melee characters like fury druid when there was no real way to break immunes
if your pc cant run the firestorm effect turn down your settings. its fine

Les is often short for “Lester” and it’s a real name (for example Les Paul, a very famous guitarist with an even more famous guitar named after him), and Law is an actual last name that exists too, so it’s not an outrageous assumption to make when reading your name

those re actually different names… Both Leslaw and my true name don’t have equivalents in other languages…
at least from acient times my actual name meant the one who vanquishes his foes with wits or otherwise takes vengance upon someone, if You have a name that means the same it could literaly be the equivalent.
as for Diablo’s firestorm from the torch i uphold my statement…
the 5% ctc also came with a decent damage buff to the skill ( they pumped it’s slvl on the torch as well).
so it hits less often, however kicks more aggressively…
and yes for pure physical fast hitting builds it is an additional damage aginst PIs, as even with the bone break there’s still much to assist aginst former PIs. torch’s firestorm fills in the gap, and for example strafezon if geared correctly ( adequate strafe slvl + max strafe breakpoint) causes the firestorm to completely melt mobs in a swift manner…
this is good for example in builds as mine where i ditched fortitude, and settled for palladin 1.11 armor runeword ( i belive it’s called principle)…
if the build has decent cth, the guaranteed holybolt procs really do the job aginst clustered groups undead and demons, especially thet the ctc is based per strike not per attack, which literally means 10 arrows eah piercing 10 times that’s literally 100 holybolts per 1 cast, the funniest part is that it also procs the heal effect on the plyer if the holybolt hits an undead, and since there’s literally 100 holybolts on screen and each passing through up to 10 enemies well do the math yourselfs… you get the principle holybolt lvl dmg and healing times up to 1k ( 100 holybolts hitting up to 10 enemies each), and it’s a cascade effect baed on how strafe shoots… the more farther in line the enemy is the more hammered it gets, as past each enemy it’s one extra holybolt hit per arrow shot in volley.
