I can confirm that the tomb Vipers in the halls of vaught still do ridiculous bugged damage with their poison clouds. It literally kills my merc instantly if he walks through the cloud. This isn’t the biggest issue for softcore, but hardcore people gotta be careful. It’s like their melee damage ticks 10+ times a second if you walk through the cloud.
i thought the bug was that it was invisible not that it did “get rekt” tier damage.
Personally I wouldn’t step foot in Hell Nith unless I have a trapper next to me. Put antidote pots in your belt…
It rekts you…
Poison damage has a chance to crit causing Super Poison, think it’s a 15% chance. Are you sure that’s not what is happening?
Yeah, that’s what I’m doing there. I built a trapsin for my mfer and have been trying to get keys off Nilathak. I can kill HIM fine, but the bugged light immune vipers which one hit my merc are causing problems. I can’t imagine that this was intended, for some random white mobs to do more dps than the ubers.
This is a known bug (well at least we know about it, who knows what the devs are tracking,) they just didn’t fix it. It may be worth dropping the merc for the runs, use shadow and liberal use of mind blast.
yeah that’s what I’ve had to do. Just mindblast the vipers while using death sentry to clear out the Nilathak pack. It works, but I had been hoping that this particular glitch would have been fixed.
This is 100% a bug, this was actualy fixxed in the latest version of D2.
Currently what is happening is they have crushing blow, which is only ment to apply on their melee hits but is applying to the posion so if your unlucky u get crushing blow poison and lose ur entire hp in a second
Interesting, that would definitely explain it.
cloak of shadows is way better than mindblast imo. You can disable the entire room.
Yeah, I was kinda being a noob. It’s way easier now doing that.
Their attack is like penetration rounds on human flesh…so far the only way I can counter even with max poison resist is to avoid staying the cloud or teleport back up instead of letting the stupid mercenary(yes, Act II mercenaries are the dumbest but most demanded ones) kept moving to suck up the entire sting.
If they don’t want to remove this unfairness/difficulty, at least balance the game by giving us the opportunity to acquire such attack.
They do Physical dmg with it like every frame or something.
ok i came to search this up because they do some insane dmg
Stack those integer damage reduction items. You can get some stupid amounts of it from an ammy and some cheap armor like Iron Pelt. I’m not sure, but it might be possible to nullify their damage that way.
seeing how D2 is balanced around multiplayer and not solo play, run with a group. Bug fixed. Glad I could help.
IMO key farming is strictly for sorc, then give them to smiter to do ubers
Blizz sorc can go there drop a blizz or 2, if nithalak gets cold immune mod, make new game
As a light sorc doing nihaltak for keys, I can say the only times I have trouble farming there is the tomb vipers 1 shotting my merc or 2 shotting me. Doesn’t matter I have 3k defense, items with 10% less damage and 75 poison resist. You teleport arround and sudenly, they just kill you instantly before you tele again. Not even funny, how is it that 200fcr tele isn’t faster than their attack? Bugged dmg for sure
BTW I use a CTA too
the snakes usually do the poison when u’re far away. if u can teleport next to them they cant do anything and they die easily. hope it helps
ps: use a teleport staff or amulet if u dont have it as a sorc
I have fire sorc with nature’s peace equipped. The snakes are weak towards fire where you can shoot and kill them from far distance. However if you do get hit do not move but quickly teleport away, same thing when your hotheaded A2 mercenary marching towards that cloud or been hit by the poison penetration rounds, teleport away to bring him out of there.
Nature’s peace would render anything you killed unable to be exploded by Nilathak, once you kill everything around him with fire, he’ll be easy piece, as long as you control the mercenary for unnecessary kills(A2 Mercenaries are the dumbest but most demanded mercenaries out there)
