These bots… er ahem people are foaming at the mouth to be able to do the Sanctuary seal trick on closed Battle.net solo with /players 8. They want dem hi roons.

Yes it does. So please don’t ask for the “/players x” command for online play again. SSF for the first 10-15 days of ladder is fine though. Just to make leveling more tricky.
I honestly don’t know why this topic keeps coming up. No way anybody really thinks the “/players x” command is a good idea. It only is doing the same thing the TZ’s have been doing to the game. Spoiling us with an alternative that made experiencing characters too simple.
The best solution is to just make a droppable item that drops as about an Ist drop rate that can proc a terror zone in that 1 game and only once. Experience potions that increase experience by 10% for 5 monsters can drop in those TZ’s. But make it more of a thing where you have to find a particular item to proc a TZ rather than giving it to us at all times.
First to 99 should be hard and challenging. Not a first level 99 in less than 10 days type thing. This is why ladder is not fun.
There is no botter who can’t already mimic whatever player setting they want already.
Again, most botters run multiple bots. I’m sure they can rig a script to run players 8 if they wanted with no effort. They chose to run P1 because there is less character build up and it is simple and easier to automate.
ya but it’s more efficient for botter to do 8 x 1p games than 1x 8p games. in terms of botting… but i really should block you on my alt acct too… sigh.

Btw I’m not entirely sure that specifically 8 x 1P games is truly most efficient, it just limits the liability on the other side. You’d have to make characters with much better gear to handle P8, taking away from the items you can sell, like the high runes needed for like infinity or enigma and CTA as well as probably some of the standard bought items like torches/anni/maras etc. They take the less efficiency to limit their losses if a ban were to happen is my guess.

Yes I agree that most likely most of all botters do not create P8 scenarios. Your first comment though clearly indicated you think they do. But I’m the insane one?
it contradics myself to say that IF BOTTERS could play 1x p8 games isntead of p8 1 games… bruh… please. use your brain. nothing there contradicts itself, if they could, they would, since it would take 8 copies instead of 1 to do it, they don’t.

The only way to play p8 now is to buy lot of D2 copies. So no matter how many copies of the game botters have /p8 command would let them farm most efficient areas on each character 24/7. It will help them a lot.
They’re running 8 copies most likely anyway? And I doubt they’re going to suddenly start making botting characters capable of handling P8 content, which would result in a net loss. Do you think most of the botting in the game is coming from individuals running one or a few copies? I mean I’m sure that exists, but then those select few scenarios are irrelevant towards botting in general. It is the mass botters that are the issue. Sure it would be nice to get them all, but clearly focusing on the larger impact and the fact that they would have no issue being able to make a script for builds that can handle P8 content where 8 characters can find stuff to farm would be quite easy. They don’t because running P1 is much easier and safer.
Botters already have a lot of D2 copies. They’d have no issue creating a script to run P3 or P5 or P7 if they wanted to. They don’t because it would take a better character to do so and it simply isn’t worthwhile. I’m sure there is some sort of a min/max scenario they could run, but why bother and why mess with an automated system build around P1 farming? If you’re worried about the few botter hobbyists you’re preventing from getting a player count increase your missing the point.
Btw this isn’t even that I care if the feature is added or not. I just think the particular argument against it being that botters could use it is moronic and show a lack of logic and reasoning. I honestly wish it wasn’t even a necessary concept but because the games social and teaming mechanics are all broken I really wouldn’t have an issue with it’s addition and in no circumstance would it help botters enough to even be concerned with. Also, the prevention of a good addition (not saying this one is) based off the sole reason that cheaters or botters might benefit from it is strictly idiotic. Why worry about a patch or a thing that might help botters when you could just flat out plain worry about negating botting in the first place?
Still /pX wouldn’t solve the problem of games social and teaming mechanics. It would even encourage more to be anti social and not teaming up.
Yes, getting rid of bots would be the best that could ever happen to this game. We don’t need new content or new runewords, we don’t need more stash or QoL. We need a legit community which would gives us 100 times better online experience.
I hate to see people crying about not having enough stash or not having a lootfilter etc. while don’t care about bots which should be the highest priority to get rid off them. No rmt no jsp no cheater.
But let’s be honest here, this will never happen. And /pX would never ever solve this problem.
Having /pX would stand in conflict with many requests of some people who need to get comfort by a videogame…
Still this would make life easier for bots if they could run all their characters in separate games. Just saying a fact, but yea it doesnt matter - game is already infested with them and economy is dead.
I worry more about what was said by dev at Q&A. There will be no point of playing together after a week of ladder. Especially when op builds exists like mosaic, hammer, javazon, sorcs with infinity take more time but still they are op. Or we need new content much harder so people would need to cooperate.
