The biggest problem i seen is that people don’t know the difference between a REMASTER and a REMAKE.
Remaster - A game that is updated visually and sounds as well as some minor QoL improvements that don’t effect the core game play or change the balance of things. (I.E. ability to shift + click stuff from stash to inventory, or having advanced stats shown on character sheet ect …)
Remake - Where the original ideas of the game are still mostly preserved but are overhauled to fit modern gaming play styles or update old archaic mechanics to fit more modern ones. as well as re balancing or changing things even at the QoL levels (I. E. adding /players 8 or Ploot to multiplayer, stack able gems and runes, re balancing classes and skills and items.) these are all changes that effect game play and balance.
D2R was advertised and released as A REMASTER
What a lot of these new players who complain about out dated mechanics wanted was a REMAKE.
Those of us against major changes are not doing it because we are “Purist” its that we wanted Same old D2 with new eye and ear candy. that was what was advertised, that’s what was delivered, and aside from server issues the game is EXACTLY what we got.
Now would i be against a REMAKE? no I would have bought that game too, HOWEVER the game wasn’t advertised as such and should not be turned into that. Stop trying to force a REMAKE for the people who wanted and got a REMASTER.

Mostly agree, however, there are certain aspects that taste more of remake than remaster. Character and some monster models come to mind.
But, there it is. There certain pressure groups whose demands must be met, or else…

Blizzard also stated that they might do balance changes and other changes later on. Its called Diablo 2 resurrected not d2 remasters. However the name doesnt matter as they alrdy stated there might be changes later on. Some ppl bought the game since they stated that.

This is hybrid between remake and remaster. Graphics are completely remade and rest remastered.

But the development also mentions ongoing support.
Is it really a remaster?

I googled “diablo 2 remastered” and I got this:
Diablo® II: Resurrected
Evil is resurrected in the timeless action RPG classic Diablo® II, and its acclaimed expansion Diablo II : Lord of Destruction®, now remastered and upgraded.
It says remastered and upgraded.
And I think there is a fine line between remaster and remake when it comes to game.

You are Purist. Most player would like changes. Thats a fact.

Oh? Show me your polls/numbers that verify that statement.
Totally underrated thread, agreed 100%!
what we got is a perfect remaster and yes, besides those crashes and server problems, Blizzard delivered what they promised. No need for further changes.
I hope the only thing they focus on right now is fixing all those problems we currently have

Totally stupid thread! Disagree 1000%
i suggest picking up a dictionary , or maybe going to gamer school, well do not worry, you are about to get gameducated
Every port I have seen has a quality of life features added in.
Every remaster I have played, addss extra content, brings in all the qol features possible… and usually at the very least upscales the graphics ( sometimes revamping the entire graphics system.)
A remake completely rebuilds the game from the ground up , using different engines \etc altogether… sometimes a remake will not be in the same genre ( though this is more of
rare case.)
People who say a remaster changes nothing but graphics , have not played any remasters.

You are right on diferences, and many do know about them, but game need some changes, We currently have 2 copies of it.
Balance changes MUST be done in this game, cause 20y now i am sick and tired to play Sorc and then a Hammy to farm cause these 2 are doing it easier than others, plus there are some specs which are totaly trash like Summoner Druid,
Game needs an end game content like PD2, never heard of from the huge amount players of PD2 to complain about the end game maps it had being a core change which ruined the game, but all of us said it is something D2 needs!
Face it. changes will come eventually cause otherwise ppl will start leaving after 2-3 seasons cause nothing will be changed for us who playing the game 20 years.

Another case of “my opinions are factual”. Nope they aren’t. I would not mind QoL changes, an improved lobby and stuff like that but the moment they touch the core gameplay I’m back to OG D2, that sucks because I do like the new look (mostly) but I did pay for a remaster, not a butchered “rebalanced” Diablo 2.
Thats not a opinion, that a stated fact because of surveys

You know the surveys, right? stated fact.

Surveys are not facts, they are representative of people who participated, I did not btw. Did the whole playerbase participated in your survey? Do you have any link with such survey and teh results?
Yea… gimme abreak.
EDIT: I found teh results of teh survey in question in a Youtube video:
A whooping 473 people participated (whoop, that’s probably FACTS!) and from the look of things they are more looking for a core experience than a modified one…
As I said, your opinion is not everyone’s opinion.

That tired old “remaster vs. remake vs. resurrected” is a useless tautology by now. That ship has sailed.
They’ve already made significant, game-altering changes (ask any PVP’er or anyone who preferred ladder) to the game. For us, D2R is definitely NOT the “D2 experience we knew and loved - preserved.”
And the devs are already talking about “adding a 3rd and 4th floor” to the game. Meaning even more changes are coming.
Trying to stop any discussion about changes using the “REMAKE” defense is already wrong. And getting even more wrong in the future.

My opinion is a fact because im not a blind fanboy like you. Everyone who is objective would like so changes for D2. Stated Fact.
btw. your video is nice… over 50% would like new content

i’d love if they updated the game with some cool new bosses, like ubers and maybe even another xpansion with act 6. But first let them fix everything that needs to be fixed, than we can discuss what and how to maybe.
50% of 473 people, that’s probably most of the community…
You should probably search for a definition for the word fact.
