Let’s be honest with each other: this game will no longer be supported by the developers, as they have work to do on Diablo 4.
– And all resources are dedicated solely to supporting that game.
This is a mean act on the part of the company towards their clients, but reasonable for their business.
I have been in contact with support & this is what I got from Battle.net support
"Hey there XXXXX, XXXX here with you this afternoonall the way from XXXXXXX.
Apologies for the delay getting back to you, it’s pretty busy here recently with the Dragonflight, Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Hardcore Classic, Season of Discovery Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV updates, among other things."
I would class Diablo 2 Resurrected is outside the category “among other things”
It’s exactly the opposite.
Diablo 4 has millions of players.
Diablo 2 has a few thousand hundreds.
That’s very few. And it’s not profitable for a financial company to support projects that don’t make a profit. And I agree with that. Diablo 2 resurrected will be like Diablo 2 classic…it’s just a matter of time.
Sadly for the first time ever… I rather agree with this. D2R died for me the moment Mosaic hit NL. Haven’t wanted to play since.
Between Mosaic and sunders, the game is just too far gone on the braindead side to be enjoyable anymore.
I have a copy of 2.3 in storage I might mess around with from time to time, but man the whole thing is such a buzz kill that I’ve just been playing other things.
Only Blizzard could kill Diablo 2 for me lol.
Bad if I now just check in every few month in the hope that they undo mosaic/sunders/tzs at some point?
A game like this, with no monetization beyond the initial purchase, shouldn’t have been a live service or touted as it was, in the first place. While the lackluster attention the game has received post launch is somewhat expected, I can see why multiplayer focused people might consider it dead.
For someone like me, who mostly plays single player, the game might as well be immortal, even if I haven’t played for months.
FromSoft games have stolen the stolen the spotlight for the time being.
I really feel the same way as you, you summed it up perfectly. Although the new rune words don’t really effect me unless I decide to use them myself, so that’s no biggie for me. But I’ve stopped playing and it’s mostly due to no currency tab or loot filter. Ilvl display would be amazing, and something I’ve asked for, too.
Before switching to D2R, I was still playing good old LoD on Plugy, and I still love it. I’m still hoping for some those QoL updates that made Plugy great to be implemented. I check back in on the forums frequently hoping for some good patch notes, but probably won’t get back into it if those things don’t happen.
seriously tho, i don’t understand. This was just supposed to be D2, with a graphics update. That’s what I was sold.
And they already screwed that up, and made all kinds of brutal changes, that wrecked the game.
So, what is it you thought was going to be the case here? That the game would change somehow? Like on an ongoing basis? Why did you think that?
If anything, they need to revert everything back to how original d2 was, and leave everything alone.
Well, D2/LoD changed a lot over the years. I liked it when blue potions were not purchasable in town, I disliked the removal of the iron maiden curse in the act IV chaos sanctuary mages, I greatly dislike synergies, and I’m not a fan of the ability to respec being added to the game.
“The game you know and loved” may be different to a lot of different people.
I also like a lot of the changes they did make in D2R, like throw barb skills and werewolf changes.
