pvmers generally dont play beyond the first few weeks of ladder. pvp games are full
I thought ppl were just playing Lost Ark, then I played it, and said… Noooo They cant be leaving D2 for this crap.
But alot could be playing Elden Ring.

Leaving doesn’t mean they won’t come back, people are just playing other games for now. Personnally I plan to come back when patch will be released.

Population comes with ladder, some play all year long i guess, but i don’t think that’s the usual (which game is? hardworking, daily quests mmo? no thanks). They take a break, each and everyone does when they consider, so no way to tell, but they do come by the same time, at ladder. Why? Because few reasons, one of them it’s the same as you are complaining now, they like to have more population and no ghost town/harder time finding games they like, and that time is…ladder reset.
Then the real question (and unheard one) is, when ladder? It’s so out of schedule, it’s a shame , we already know that, you can play, you can wait out, you can do posts lol, it’s expected, they do all work the same (time passes).
What do you want from the thread, agree that is late? Yeah i agree. Game is dead? No, come by ladder and you will see the opposite.
I suggest playing another chars, hardcore, or pvp, go on discords, find the games. You said nightmare, i bet there’s people doing playthoughs no rushing in some discord, that’s usually my favorite games, especially with no twinking (hence another reason i like ladder).
I agree 6 months feels too long and I am disappointed, but seeing the changes they are making with 2.4 in addition to the server stability issues that were present at launch. I understand why it was longer than what I think most everyone expected.
I think a lot of players didn’t “leave” they are just waiting. Same thing we do for other ARPGs, come back at ladder/league resets and play for a month or two. Rotate to the next ARPG ladder/league reset and repeat.

PVP in D2 was always a joke. D2 is purely a PVM game.

I decided to level a new sorc after deleting all my characters the other day. Felt like playing with some others. Only one game for Act 2 up, and it was 3hours and 10 minutes old. I recall standard D2 as always having walk games up. Dunno. Tho there was another with this one guy who insisted every single mob must be killed, and if I don’t clear every single one in an area, I was “rushing” him. Like, where are the games man??
This regional lock stuff is really a killer.
I suspect here in a few weeks when 2.4 goes live, things will be popping again. Then when ladder finally comes, things will be snap crackle popping. (Hopefully not electrical pops and fizzles coming from the server) Lets gooooo!
You can always switch the region in the launcher and look for games there.
I hadn’t tried grouping until a few nights ago. But I had gotten to where my sorc was so far beyond one shotting all normal mobs on p=1, that I knew it would be more efficient to trying grouping for a split farm. So I got on and immediately saw a split MF group, and joined it. But it was just me and the guy who set it up. Waited 45 minutes before we finally had 6 players, at which point I just went off and did cows, then some other stuff. There was no point in waiting to get to 8.
And it occurred to me how many cows runs on p=1 I could have done solo in all that time I waited plus the time it took to do the run on p=6. The answer was, about 7-8 p=1 runs.
I think if the grouping situation doesn’t improve, Blizzard will have to permit bn players to go at least p=3 on their own, or there is no point in levelling or gearing a character past a certain level. This character only has Bliz at lvl 42. I could acquire more gear, skillers etc. to go beyond that, but currently there isn’t much point. All it would do is slightly speed up kill times for boss/champion class mobs, as all normals die in 1 hit. So if there is no ability to go past p=1 without having to wait so long for a group that you would have been better doing just solo p=1, then there is no further point in improving the character.
The p=1 restriction is meant to encourage grouping on bn, and that is fine. But if grouping is not that viable even with the restriction, then the restriction becomes a problem.
Caveat: I do not PvP. Though this is true of many players.

Playing lost ark is an insult to a genuine Diablo guy, lost ark looks like kung fu panda vs pokemon. Diablo 1 and 2 are satanic games
Population tends to drop at the end of a ladder or before a big patch. I’m not overall worried. I’ve actually been playing more in this time to set up some non ladder builds that get buffed with patch.
More like Christian games since you’re destroying demons.

Bunch of people quit playing the game because they cant find items… They made this game so difficult for the people that use to play it 15 to 20 years ago. Loot wasnt a problem back then. There also wasnt even any balance issues. The main problems were bots, Credit card warriors, Dupes, illegally imported items from non ladder to ladder LOL, and the guys using hacks to duel cuz they sucked without hacks.
I wasnt allowed to pvp in public after the flash hack got popular…
Anyways, yeah, the group working on this game , they wrecked this game with all the bugs and issues they created while they were supposedly supposed to just update the graphics. Im very upset with my purchase of this game after all this invested time into and now im watching die out before i even got make 1 full character. These guys should be ashamed of product they have released and sold to the public in the condition that it is in. We dont need to see this Lama kids face when reading about the ptr notes either. We know hes a kid. We can see it. His brain wasnt as developed as US older ones were when he played diablo 2 as a child he obviously is out to wreck what diablo 2 used to be.
