I’m sorry, but they weren’t ready for release (online at least). This is bad. Open beta was obviously totally useless. They literally did nothing to prepare the online infrastructure adequately. People are angry, and they’re right (within reason).
Moreover, communication is lacking big time. Good communication would do so much right now. Where are the community managers ?
Status ? Nope. Expected time for a fix ? Nope. Addressing certain rumors (bots, players from Asia, players being AFK, etc.) ? Nope. Explaining what they’re doing right now ? Nope. We’re in the dark.
The actual artists who actually worked on the game did such a good job. But for the people who worked on the online portion, good god what did you do ?

Neither closed nor open beta had this issue. the most annoying issue in beta was the chat system breaking every game and the crashing.
Yeah that was probably exactly their thinking. Hey beta was fine so release is going to be fine right ? Let’s go.
What even are load testing?
Well, seeing as this is an infrastructure issue. They could have taken another year on the game itself and still ran across this issue.
Yep. Maybe. And this is just an idea. Maybe they should’ve improved the infrastructure ? Anticipated a little ? Do something ? Anything ?
When I ask to the online engineers, what did you do ? It’s a real question. What was your job actually before the release ?
But the beta was short lived, and no $$$ via fg on those 3rd party websites to be made. So of course the botters and spammers left the Alpha and Beta alone. Not so for the real release. Add in all of us D2 junkies/hoarders/collectors/holy grailers and whatever other word(s) you want to call the fanbase of D2. Apparently way too many of us and a less than adequate server design to handle the load.
ActiBlizz does thank you for spending your hard earned money however.
its not exactly a load testing issue either. it has something to do with the backup system that allows people to play characters across all regions and platforms. The servers are trying to send and recieve character saves too often.
I am almost afraid of what actual Blizzard communication would truly look like the longer the silence lasts. I doubt they would ever actually talk to us like humans. Likely it would just be corporate anti customer drivel. But I guess it could have the possible chance of containing even a crumb of useful information beyond “we acknowledge the chance there is a problem and are actively thinking about fixing it”

It fails under load. Regardless of why, proper testing would have show the flaws in the system. The game is being played as it was always played. They could and should have anticipated this, but they rushed relea$$$$$$e.

If you are asking me what my job was/is, i work it for a set of car dealerships. Let me say, this is extremely unacceptable, i just like to give everyone more info.
Sorry I was asking the hypothetical blizzard engineer in the thread. I know you don’t have anything to do with this.
You would be surprised, the moment you try to say anything against the masses you are usually met with “blizzard shill” and all that. lol
I wish they would talk to us like we’re human beings. Like, actually tell us how it is.
They could tell us they don’t know when it’s going to be fixed, because they don’t even have an idea for a fix. Could take a week, could take months. But we don’t know anything.
You know ? Manage expectations. Tell us what they’re doing day-to-day. The status ?

Yeah, their communication has always been pretty terrible.
