In D2R Asian forum, they have a specific section to list all the accounts permanently closed due to using illegal mods/tools ie maphack and bots
https://tw.forums.blizzard.com/zh/d2r/c/banwave-list/9
The list is posted every week or fortnight and approximately 1000-2000 accounts are shut down in each post, most of which are bots. How can I tell? If you click into any of the posts, you will find various randomly created email accounts consisting of random numbers or letters. I doubt any reasonable person would ever create an email account like that
Generally, AIs will automatically register Battle.net accounts using those random emails, purchase the game and create in-game characters. Then those bots are g-rushed to hell then levelled up to Lv70 for Travincal or Lv-80 for Chaos Sanctuary by all those levelling services on JSP or other platforms, and start to run these two areas 24*7. They are programed to pick up whatever you think are worthy and once their stash and inventory are full, you will receive a push notification then you can transfer these findings to other legit manually controlled accounts. Even these bots are detected and accounts closed by Blizzard after botting for a few days, majority of them would have already made you some huge profits (The accounts where these items are transferred will not get closed because they are actually legit accounts operated by merchants)
From a merchant I personally know in real life, he runs 50 bots regularly and every day he can collect about 30-50 high runes, along with 100-200 unidentified rare rings and jewels
Still wondering why all those uncannily gg items on JSP come from Asian markets? You should have your answer by now

bots exist in all games and they help to lower the economy, baal run.
only those who care about the first one to attain lvl99 in ladder hates bots
Thing is, he sells everything he gets as fast? Is there enough demand for these? That’s a lot of people who plays a wallet game, people that want to buy items are weirder to me than ones who want to sell, but you need a balance of both of course, otherwise why run so many accounts.
The other funny thing, aside from these sad wallet people, are the amount of extra licences sold, all that required for people to play this easy game? It’s hilariuos in fact.
My ladder reset would last 3 days that way, one for leveling, one to get geared, one to bore me with the already done and functioning char, next game lol, i already get things on my own while reasonable time playing, shortening the game’s life while paying more? lol (remember when people where raging on the 40 dollars price tag, then there’s the “other” people, willing to play for getting a game passed).
Pretty funny, i just don’t care about others really, they just make this game easier and shorter which is kinda meh for me, and then i see some people that want 6 month or 1 year lasting ladder : impossible, everything is done in few weeks, even playing legit, and even less with this type of players, obviously.
2000 accounts per week is better than i could have expected btw, seems still not enough t disencourage.

whats your problem while they have purchased a legit copy of game?
that forum has been showed before. cant remember if it was on this forum or reddit.
it turned out it was most Spam/chat bots And MH
I dont think anyone belive this game is bot free btw.
A very useful post! Thank you. Now I can play better.
Who thinks this is a bot free game? Of course there are plenty of private bot games, but the public games list isn’t replete in bot baal runs like regular D2. That is progress.

The bulk of those botted items are not sold on that site. Most people do not care about virtual internet points. The Asian market largely operates on wechat + RMT sites because the conversion from item to IRL currency is better. However, there are some merchants that clearly use that site to facilitate their operations.
But the botting situation is nowhere near the absurd levels of OG D2, where 90% of the playerbase ran public bots while Blizzard did practically nothing. To be fair, the game was already long dead by that point.
D2R botting will likely never be as bad as in OG D2 for several reasons:
- Good private bots are likely sold in limited quantities, and will stay private as long as the creators enjoy profits
- The people who have the skills to develop competent bots are competing with each other
- D2R is a resource-heavy game. It’s fair to assume that most bots that currently exist are not clientless, so most botters must scale operations by buying more hardware as upfront investment.
- D2R is new and Blizzard has incentive to crack down on cheaters. It’s a hard problem so it’s understandable if the result is not perfect.
for once i agree 100% with Bodach

based on my thread complaining that blizz isnt getting heat for bots, a lot of people
this is literally so far from reality. its insanely obvious people other than those racing to 99 care about bots. how delusional are you? its fine that you dont care but you have to be lying or blind to think no one else cares

it happened! 𝅶𝅶 𝅶𝅶𝅶 𝅶𝅶
Unless you do some deep learning stuff (i can’t imagine how do you plug leveling up to 99 into it…), programmed bots have 0% chance at beating people in a race to 99.
honestly guys d2 LoD was a bot fest and whoever set their bot up the best won…that was the culture and it was widely accepted as normal operations. Classic d2 people played for the sole reason they could run bots.
Reality is…all the hype for d2r may have not ever been there if bots werent still carrying new chars through baal runs on LoD from say 2008 to 2020
Can those be chat bot instead that got banned?
Bots help nobody playing the game legitimately. Sorry.
YES and most of them is. ther was a post about it on this forum or Reddit last year.
I don’t understand why they only post their banwave reports in the Chinese language forum. Why hide the fact that they are actually doing something to mitigate the bot issue? Blizzard should be patting themselves on the back and showing the rest of the world that they do take it seriously.

there bots are apparently terrible
because i still cant even find a lot of random items i want.
and there are very few “perfect” floating around. even common uniques like goldwrap are hard to find in perfect.
so they need to stop botting, because they are failing at it on a grand scale.
also based on hr prices. they are clearly not effecting the market very much because the price of hrs has only ever slowly gone down. if botting was a real large scale operation. HRS would be 5fg for bers
