The RNG gods are brutal

killed pindleskin 100 times with 300% MF and got nothing

Pindle was never fantastic anyways, well I should say I remember him being nerfed ages ago because of his high lvl and ease of access.

He’s an addition to a run in my mind.

ive seen worse.

its the nature of rng

People need to realize that Pindle is not an effective use of their time. The ONLY reason he was so farmed in D2 is because he has a theoretical chance (not good chance) to drop just about any item in the game AND it was incredibly easy to code bots to kill him 24/7.

Just because a bot finds decent loot after killing Pindle 100,000 times, doesn’t mean it’s a good farming spot.

I couldn’t even stomach 10 pindle kills.
I couldn’t bring myself doing 100 pindle runs.

^ This. So, true.
Something that even after all of these years have passed I still have a hard time wrapping my head around is the idea that there are people on this planet who have run and who may continue to run 100s if not 1000s of bots which are focused on farming Blizzard’s legacy games. I guess that we are quite the kooky species.

Stop killing only Pindleskin, his drop has been nerfed back in 1.10.

You would get better resulrs farming Andariel or any other act boss or any lvl 85 area.

Edit: followed my own advice, went and kiled Mephisto and got a nice unqiue Swirling Cristal: The Oculus.

Truly the RNG gods giveth and taketh, because I just got a 39% MF Gheed’s Fortune while doing the Ancient Tunnels for kicks in the process of completing Act2, with just ~60-ish MF to begin with. Just completing the game ATM, not even trying to farm. Went there for the Xp. It’s the first time I see one in the flesh in 20 years.

Stop doing the same thing over and over. You will burn out. Vary the areas you farm. Goofing off with friend tonight on C tier assassin and summon necro… plop goes a Nightwing Veil in Maggot Lair level 2.

That is not bad RNG at all. 100 Pindle runs are nothing. Just add him to your general MF run.

Nice find, I rushed someone and found a unique shako :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

100 is nothing really, that is the harsh reality of this game, and the reason a lot of people play. For the thrill, I guess. I’m no different… you get strung along by the small finds. It’s like pulling the lever at the casino every time.

But people that get on here and talk about all the HRs and amazing drops they get everyday are not a good example of what to expect. I watched a video of a guy un-identifying 50,000 runs worth of Pindle gear and, while the loot would be worth quite a lot, it put the rarity of some loot into perspective. From all those runs not one SoJ, just one Griffon’s Eye and one Death’s Fathom, two Death’s Webs, no Tal-Rasha’s armor, and a relatively small handful of HRs. But again, from 50k runs.

Everyone basically says “rng is rng”, but this is absolutely bs. To paraphrase from the movie ‘Happy Accidents’, “do you even know how a combustion engine works?”. There are various (good and terrible) ways to implement RNG in a system. D2 appears to be terrible at it.

Many decent items have 1 in 900 ~ 5000 chance to drop from act bosses, super uniques and etc.

Repeat 2000-5000 times and let us know what you find.

People have nostalgia but don’t realize that Diablo’s entire economy always ran on bots, dupes, and cheaters because the drop rates are absolutely terrible for runes (especially high runes) and for usable legendaries / set items.

They sure are. Hell Diablo surprised me with a Shako. My excitement died the moment i picked it up and opened my inventory - it was ethereal…

lmao - that has to sting. What actually bugs me the most is that Hell difficulty creatures still drop crappy breast plates and low level garbage . that’s one of the things really screwing up the RNG

Mine too. Only one dropped for me so far. Solo’d Ubers and got a crappy 11/14 DTorch. All next day farm countess… no keys. Trying to find motivation lol.
