The physical damage of the elemental druid

What proportion of the damage from e.g. rock fire or volcano is magical or purely physical?
And what is the best way to increase this damage with the equipment?
Fire damage percentage is clear by lowering resistances and +fire damage etc. But how can I increase the elemental (fire) druid’s physical damage percentage with the spells?

Isn’t that mutually exclusive with the equipment?

A few good rune words would be something for the fire druid. Mosaic is so good, even if you made it only half as good, there would still be a good rune word for the fire druid with the remaining 50%^^

I would like to be able to spam rock fire faster and it should be able to drive all enemies in front of it, except for act bosses and special bosses like Nhilathak, and roll over everything except a wall or a pillar.
In addition, Feuerstrum should have 50% more range and twice as many flame trails.
But my question is about the physical damage in the first place.

  • The magical and physical damage should be separated on the skills tooltip. If it says just “damage”, then it’s physical. Molten Boulder, for example, has both and it lists the damage each does.
  • The easiest way to increase the damage is from skill points and synergies.
  • Druid’s physical damage on the skills can only be increased via skill points and synergies.
  • What’s “mutually exclusive to equipment”?
  • There really aren’t any Druid-specific runewords that will help you here. Most good Druid-specific items are rare/uncommon skill pelts.
  • “Rock fire”? You mean Molten Boulder? This skill is actually really nice when it doesn’t explode. It has a ton of roll over damage. You can’t cast it any faster than it will allow you to. It has an internal cooldown between casts.
  • Firestorm or “Feuerstrum”, as you put it, doesn’t have any physical damage. It’s purely fire.

Yes, I spelled it wrong and the translator couldn’t do anything with it

OK, so there’s no other way to increase physical damage than through skill points and synergies.

Okay, thanks.

Damage can be buffed(Fire or Physical) with more +Skills and Synergies. Fire Rainbow facets and any gear with %Skill and -Enemy Fire Resistance(not to mention Conviction aura and Lower Resist Curse) greatly amplify the Fire Damage done.

For Physical, curses greatly amplify damage done. Best means are Lawbringer(via Act 5 Merc), Reaper’s Toll(Act 2 Merc), or Wrath(Act 1 Merc). Lawbringer yields Sanctuary aura, hence turns him into a strong Undead killer. Other two options are quite strong with Reaper Toll being the go-to pick for Werewolves.

I came to post pretty much exactly this. Lawbringer (even dual if you really want on act 5 merc) and Reaper’s Toll is probably the most reliable and best bet. Amplify Damage would obviously be better, but its chance to cast is too low to be reliable. I wish concentration would work with the physical part, like using Pride. Actually… I’ve never tested, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work otherwise more people would be talking about it.

Also note, things like the unique glove “Magefist” having +1 to fire skills works with the druid’s physical fire skills, so flickering flame is a really great option while also reducing enemy fire res for the fire damage part. And if you can find a good base with something like +skills to Molten Boulder or Armageddon is excellent.

All Concentration does is buff Physical Damage from Physical attacks(ex: Fury, Maul, Hunger) that utilize your weapon. Spells that don’t deal damage from your weapon(ex: Shockwave, Tornado, Molten Boulder, Volcano, Armageddon) are not affected by Concentration. Only “spell” that is affected is Blessed Hammer and to this day I’ve never understood why other than the Paladin was a favorite of one of the developers.

Hence to buff Physical Damage from spells, the only way to do so is via Curses.

It has something to do with blessed hammer at one point way way back dealt half physical and half magic damage. The skill has since been updated to only deal magic, but concentration’s effect is still working on this one particular skill granting half of its damage receiving the buff to this day.
