You know, bashing everyone that disagrees with you and calling them “purists” is not the way to gain credibility on these ideas. While you may have some decent thoughts, noone gives a rats behind about your stuff simply because of how you react(ed) to criticism and disagreement.
First of all, this is not a copy paste of PD2 nor even close to it
Sure there are commun things but… they are just staple logical modern arpg features.
PD2 adds a lot of stuff on the top of D2 but my suggestions don’t, they basically improve existing stuff, evolve them. Pretty much everything I suggest is done a way that it’s still the same game
Also, blizzard blocked modding in the first place, it wasn’t an accident, it was intentional
They disqualified the better runners than them so they could claim the victory with their mediocre changes like 2.4
People need to stop saying this because it’s not true, D2R does support softcode mods.
Yes it’s more restricted compared to original D2 since there’s no code injection/hardcoding allowed, but that’s been clear since the Beta and it honestly should’ve been clear from the day D2R was announced.
Blizz doesn’t let anyone dig into the code of any of their modern games, D2R wasn’t going to be an exception. Yes it sucks but that’s how it goes with all this modern day DRM crap.
We can only hope that they move more hardcode functions to softcode to allow modders more possibilities and it’d be great if they allowed the possibility of modded multiplayer, but I’m not holding my breath.
it being clear since beta doesnt change the fact that blizzard intentionnally did everything they could to hinder a core part of the diablo community, a major aspect which made the remaster a possible thing, modding did extend the lifespan of this dying game
knowing this new coding would hinder modding, they could have done so many things to embrace modding rather than backstab it. give modding tools, add modded realms, etc
but that wasnt their plan, they wanted to mod it themselves… very poorely
Interesting how you take my quotes out of context in an attempt to support your argument. Quote the whole thing.
As I said before this isn’t specific to D2R. It’s Blizzard’s policy not to allow hardcode changes in any of their modern games.
knowing this new coding would hinder modding, they could have done so many things to embrace modding rather than backstab it. give modding tools, add modded realms, etc
Yes, I agreed with this earlier. They should allow modders more options, especially modded multiplayer. The tools aren’t really needed though, the community already has them for the most part.
but that wasnt their plan, they wanted to mod it themselves… very poorely
I disagree, I think 2.4 was done very well. Maybe years down the road when D2R is in maintenance mode and D4 is out they’ll crack open the game to modders, or maybe that’ll happen even before then.
D2 was ahead of its time back in the days and it’s still a masterpiece on so many aspects
But it been 20years and people learned from it and expanded the realm of arpg science
In 2000 D2 was a round wheel car but with years, it became a car with triangle wheels… what they did with 2.4 was to make those triangle wheels into squares…
My goal with this post is to make them round again so the game can keep rolling smooth for years
Not sure if this is the right thread for this question, but I have not been able to use the cube to transmute anything for the last couple of days. Is this a Known issue? My offline characters can transmute but online characters can’t. Please advise. Thanks
