I save this armor (ancient armor) since the beginning to make the Fortitude armor - el+sol+dol+lo. Finally, I got the Lo rune to complete the setup. And it doesn’t work! This game is a clunker and makes me mad. Imagine, spending a month to find the Lo rune, and now this crap. 
Eligible armors must be Non-Magical (Blue/Rare/Unique/Set) and have exactly the amount of sockets required for the runeword. You sure your armor wasn’t 4 socketed and blue?
Also, are you sure you were using a “Lo” rune and not an “Io” rune? These two get confused very often by new players.

you used a magic item. you probably bought it from a vendor, too, right? thought you got lucky…
it seems strange that you would know that your goal is an armor such as fortitude but you wouldn’t know that this can only be made with white items which are non magic… hrmmmmmm
also, you were going to waste a Lo on ancient armor anyways so it’s basically the exact same thing as you not even getting the runeword at all.

I found a 4 sockets Ancient armor at Normal lvl and saved it till today for the Lo rune. Now, I got the Lo rune in Hell lvl to finish it. Alas, the result is an armor better than a piece of crap. I wish I could copy its picture and post here for everyone to see. This problem has got to stop or players will go nut.
I understand you are hurt and dissapointed.
Please take a deep breath. You will eventually get another shot at it.
But for it to work next time and to enjoy your further time in D2R.
Ask more questions about the mechanics of D2.

i have a lo as well and i’ve been saving it for a few weeks to find an armor worthy of putting it in. i have a few 4 sockets and ancient armor would NEVER be in that running. what is the exact name of your ancient armor? is the title blue? press “PRINT SCRN” button on your computer, search > paint, crop it, upload to imgur/com

I advice you to not do that.
Its most probably to make that screenshot a meme.
There is not need for that.
Just know in the future:
The item must not be magic (blue) rare (yellow) or anthing else but grey and have the exact ammount of open sockets for the word and you need to socket it in the right order.
Who cares, we can tell him exact reason why it failed if he post it. Also it will be good for others to not make same mistake.

Why would you save ancient armor that has such horrible defense/str reqirement ratio ?
Before you got to hell and find Lo rune, you surely had to find many other armors with more def and less str requirement to make you realize the ancient armor is a horrible choice.

this is the reason. this guy made this thread like fortitude is a gamewide problem and he was just another victim of the broken runeword system. literally nobody has ever had a runeword glitch in all of diablo [excluding exploitors who made DOUBLE BETTER RUNEWORDS, not non existent runewords] except those who used magic items or accidentally placed in the incorrect order or as someone else mentioned Lo vs Io (which diablo 2 website made huge asterisks distinctions as far back as on their original 2000 website at the bottom of all item pages)

I got it in-game, not from vendor. I have not dealt with vendor yet. I am new with this game. This armor come with 4 sockets, and color grey as all socketed items look like. I will try to send its picture here. Not sure how but I’ll try.
I for one can’t wait to see this.

Then you used an Io rune and not a Lo rune, Lo rune looks like a pair of lungs and is considerably more rare than an Io rune.

you got the wrong base anyway and dont worry Fortitude is just a mid runwords, surely you will got better if keep playing.
