It’s almost impossible to get a good baal, chaos, cow, etc. run going.
If you don’t time things perfectly with the game creator, you try to join too soon, get kicked out for 1-2 minutes, by that time the game is already full, and you’ve lost that run.
All we can expect to do at this point is endlessly scroll through lists and lists of ridiculous trade games, hoping to see a baal, et al run every few minutes or so. This absolutely kills the momentum that a good run brought to almost all of us in D2.
This bogus design is definitely NOT the “D2 experience we know and loved - preserved”
If you want to do public Baal runs and don’t see any suitable games in the list, just create your own. By the time you’ve reached the throne the game will be full.
Or do you just want to leech without putting in any effort yourself? If so, there are various communities that offers leecher spots in private runs where you can do exactly that, with the only rule being that leechers aren’t allowed to loot anything.
Your post is entirely worthless, why did you bother to take the time to post that? The lobby system is completely broken bro and nothing you just said is relevant in any way.
Create my own game or I’m a total leech. Those are my only 2 choices?
Seriously, if it were up to me, I’d include an intelligent loot allocation that assigns loot based on how much a player contributed to killing the dropper. You eat what you kill. If you laid back and simply watched the action, you’d get ziltch.
I almost think that XP allocation should be assigned in the same manner.
The point of my post is we are missing out on a lot of camaraderie that develops during a long run of games. I’ve seen people give away items worth Ist or more during a run, simply because a player asked for it. The banter also picks up during these long runs.
If we have to constantly join new “series” or runs every game, neither these acts of generosity or banter ever happen, and the community is the poorer for it.
And why are we now playing D2R in ways we never played D2? Because Blizz can’t figure out how to provision their network and database infrastructure? In 2021?
These are solved problems throughout the industry!
I would add that they desperately need to have an option to only see trade games versus games where people are actually playing. It seems that >90% of public games are just trading. For those of us who want to play with others, finding actual multiplayer public games is a nightmare.
You don’t even know how bad this would be. Certain builds would be favored over others and typically only one person would get everything even if there are 8 people doing the run trying to contribute.
The reality is that some players/classes/builds deal more damage. So you might have a hammerdin/blizzsorc or lightsorc/javazon who can clear everything solo before ANYONE has a chance to participate in the kill.
Not to mention xp allocation in such a manner would kill runs all together.
Leeching is perfectly fine, imo. I literally would make baal run games with my level 90 just to let people leech. There is no way they will be able to keep up with my damage rate and they get free xp. This is how diablo has always been and this shouldn’t change.
This, to me, seems like the lowest of the low-hanging fruit for a QoL improvement.
Should take hours to design/implement, and yet they didn’t. Tells me that the people developing the game really aren’t serious players and/or they just didn’t care…
