Thanks blizzard

I know we have been pretty harsh but I feel a lot of criticism was deserved. With that said thanks for getting the servers fixed. Everything feels great about making joining games so far. Much better than the Realm Down days that was really frustrating for sure. So thank you for getting that sorted out.

Now going forward can you tell us about any other optimizations? The load screen is still a bit frustrating. Considering you are in are already in the game while you still have the load screen. That’s got to feel like a lifetime to hardcore players.

Anyhow thanks keep the good changes coming!

A positive post for a change. :+1:

Agreed, things have been getting better as time goes on. There’s still room for improvement though.

Keep going Blizzard!

Game is purely addictive as it was before. Only so much better for my older eyes…

The server issues have been improving and this is a great post. Still lots of room to improve to eliminate the queues and rate limiting. Also there are many serious, even game breaking bugs in the game (specific to D2R, I’m not talking about legacy bugs here) that need to be fixed ASAP, but I am confident the D2R team will work on them soon. It would be nice though to get an update from Blizzard on their plans to prioritize and fix them.

Have the servers improved much? Or has a big enough percentage of the population left in frustration after dealing with another shoddy release by small indie dev Blizzard?

My guess is a combination of both. Those who spend 8+ hours a day playing have top notch characters, likely don’t have any more room to hoard items due to 20 char limit, so they’re stuck/bored. All that are left now are the casual 1-2 hours a night or less players.

They’ve got some post-release numbers to work with now, so hopefully by the time the first ladder comes around, their server capacity/reliability will be greatly improved.

yes, much better than realm down and temp ban days. one thing i also love is the game doesn’t kick you out for idle! i can keep my 2 instances in the same game, go out to play tennis, hang out with friends and come back to find them still in the same game! in classic d2 it would sometimes kick you out after 10-15 mins of being idle!

Don’t get too comfortable with this… I’m sure AFK timers will come sooner or later. :stuck_out_tongue:

meh would be a little slap in the face, i have a lot of moments where i have to step away :frowning:

what happened was they bought a low number of servers. The servers got over-loaded they added in log in que system, and making and joining and making game timers. Players got tired of it and quit or stopped playing, aka reduced stress on servers , so now everyone think blizzzard fixed something.

And some read my posts to emphasize that 300 Pindle runs per day is causing server overloads. And if they want to keep doing that, they have to pay for new servers by having a monthly subscription. Becoz Blizz would not get new servers just to satisfy your 300 Pindle runs.

Why server issues is not happening on D3 when you can also abuse the same farming methods on that game?

The final straw for me was losing my uber keys due to a bug and server issues 2 days ago. Uninstalled after the continued frustration and dealing with the band aid fixes. As you mention the 20 character limit is also cumbersome to deal with. This thing was not play tested at all.

For me personally D2R was their last chance at winning me back and it’s probably the same for others as well. You really have to wonder what demographic do Blizzard games even appeal to anymore? The 30-55 age range players that played their games in their youth and have too much of a sunk cost fallacy in both time and money spent to walk away and move on to something new? They certainly don’t appeal to the young anymore. Every one of their IP’s is either straight up abandonware or in some sort of serious balance crisis and where the only financially redeeming aspects is that certain whales will stick with them like lost souls because they’ve spent too much money and time over the years. That’s hearthstone and WoW in a nutshell atm, only appealing to addicted whales.

So this is your farewell post?

Nah, I’ll be back for ladder. D2 is still a fun game to play now and then. But it’s morbidly fascinating to watch a company of this size and stature crash and burn as it has.

The quarterly earnings report that just came out sort of makes me think that they will look at D2r with renewed appreciation and greed…

Still Queues and Rate Limiting = big middle finger. These were promised not to happen. Terrible job.

Whatever they did is probably less effective than people getting sick of clunky lobby & server and quitting. Besides, the fact that the game depended on (or is it still depending on? Who knows) the “old code” is a shame. They had to change it before beta and test it during beta. Releasing an unfinished game… is a shameful action

It’s great they’re fixing things, but I’m not gonna thank them for doing their job. These issues should have been ironed out prior to launch.

The only thing that has changed is that there are less people playing so there are lower queue times. I can give them credit for doing a great remaster, but support for this game has been non-existent.

id like to send my sentiments of thanks as well. thanks for adding ques…effectively making me wait just as long as when the whole server went down sometimes. thank you also for not fixing the constant crash to desktops many of us are experiencing. i for one bought a brand new computer which is more than enough for the requirements, have only this game on it, settings on lowest possible and still crash multiple times an hour. i liken it to creating a new road. if the crew and management dont plan accordingly and start with a good base before you open the road to the public youll either have to shut the whole road down to start over which is costly and pisses everyone off or you gotta reroute traffic to work on half and then do the other half after that…which pisses everyone off and is costly…moral of the story: get the right people on the job thatll do it right the first time. oh…one more thing to thank you for cause i know its such a big deal and we all care soooo much. thanks for letting us know you STRIVE to higher transgenders and homosexuals and the like. im so glad you have your priorities STRAIGHT.
