not sure if this was a problem on pc, but for console i had a very hard time figuring out the rarity of most drops. the colors seemed very washed out. i placed brown next to a white and there was almost no difference. hope it was just me but i believe this needs fixed.
I had problems with the unique items also, the brown is too washed out, too similar with the yellow/rare items and Iâm not the only one, my friends also told me they had this problem
ITâs not just you guys. . Iâve come into habit of hitting that âold graphics switchâ among a loot pile to see what is what. Sadly the new graphics; the white/yellow/gold are all too close
As is the grey/blues. I cannot tell the difference (turning off PCâs night mode helpedâŚmildly)
If you can see them easily in the old graphics; thereâs no reason they canât be easily seen on a higher graphic pallet of the update. . Time to incorporate colors that are no where near each other, bring in some magentas. some reds. etc.
Which console are you folks using?
If it is the PS4/PS5, you may need to adjust two specific settings:
-
Deep Color Output: This is for displays and TVs that support a wider color gamut using the older v.Color format. This is off by default, but turning it on may yield better color dinstinction.
-
HDMI Whilte Level: By default this is set to Limited, which operates in the 17-237 range with regard to the standard 8-bit per channel layout. If your display has a 10-bit panel in it or is a computer monitor, you should set this to Full, so that the range is set to the maximum of 0-255. If your display gives you better colors with the Full setting, then setting Deep Color to On is recommended to get the maximum amount of colors available, which should reduce or eliminate any issues with the colors youâre currently seeing.
XBox consoles have similar settings as well, both of which have the same effect as those on the PS4/PS5.
There is also a color format on both consoles that allows for YUV4:2:2, also known as 4:2:2 YâCbCr or for sRGB. Try this setting if the other two donât show appreciable results. The default is the 4:2:2 YâCbCr setting, but if you have a TV with a 10-bit panel or are using a computer monitor, sRGB will be the better choice as it allows for unfiltered color gamuts without chroma subsampling (the :2:2 portion of the 4:2:2 seen in this post).
The game is outputting as it should, but it is almost a guarantee that your color settings are not optimal on the console itself relative to what the display expects. You may notice that once fixed, colors âpopâ more than they used to on every game. Itâs just more apparent on D2R because of the dithering that happens when uniques are displayed.
Fixed on my end, it seems the monitors color settings were not set for true rbg; blues were hella low. ⌠I can actually see the various colors now. /facepalm
A high quality screen might fix this problem.
Iâm a web designer myself and this happens a lot, I work on a macbook pro and the colors look so good that sometimes I donât realize people with average screens wonât be able to tell the difference between, for example, two tones of gray.
Shutting all windows and lowering the ambient light in your room might help too.
Also, if you have a high end phone, you could take a screenshot of the game and its text and check it on your phone. If you still donât see the difference on an OLED high end phone you might be seeing less than most people.
Anyway, VV should definitely fix this.
I have a great screen, so I have no trouble telling the colors apart.
