Terror Zones failed

I enjoy them.

The evaluation of the Terror Zone as a new element of the game cannot have anything to do with the issue of the race for the 99. The teams that do the race for the season I wish good luck.

And the totally unbalanced Sunder has to be changed or eliminated from the game.

I don’t like terror zones, I prefer other area constructions to be done.

Mixing race with terror zone is just a disservice to discussions, especially with several things in the game not done, the trample that was the implementation of sunders and terror zone, added to the fuel in the fire that the dupe is back in the game.

That’s where the mistake was. They need to be available in the Nightmare terror zones. They do after all carry a hefty penalty to resistance for the player so the tradeoff is one that actually has meaning since players won’t have endgame resistances and gear yet, but will be able to make use of the sundered charms going into Hell instead of having to slog through it first and then finally getting some relief.

That’s really the only change that needs to happen with regard to TZs.

You mean having gatekeeper items drop from the gatekept areas wasn’t a good design decision?

Next we will learn that having random zones spawns with higher levels instead of a universal difficulty increase was a bad idea?

This will be the first time i level a char to 99 - because of the option to do it via TZ. Barely a Casual Player will do the old way.

What level are you now?

Actually, the terror zones enhanced my gearing reward schedule and leveling enjoyment. I’m now LV 82 having set foot in Hell only far enough to do Countess runs (I’m trying for a Pul for my helm so I can avoid being frozen and have 100% piercing attacks). The terror zones can drop things the rest of the difficulty cannot, including some rather decent rares once you’ve maxed out the TZ spawn level. This has the effect of smoothing out the reward schedule and making it so you aren’t necessarily left bereft of gear upgrade options when trying to transition betewen difficulties. And it does so without actually increasing the drop rate, only the treasure class available to the player via the terror zones.

It’s fairly well implemented, but they need to allow those sundered charms to drop in max level Nightmare TZs. If they fix that while keeping the required level to equip the charms at 75, then they have a real winner that allows builds to prep for Hell with meaningful choices.

At your level, they drop exactly the same as any level 85 zone…

With that much of a difference, it makes me wonder if the differences in the underlying game drove this result more than the strategies and tactics used.

yes please make the third difficulty even more easy by remove the immunities from the start!!! xd

The Norm/NM zones do not. They drop significantly better items. That’s where the reward schedule improvements come from.

Having virtually zero damage against a huge number of mobs because of the hard immunities was never a good design. While sundered charms are only a band-aid on a gaping wound, they’re better than nothing, but without access to them prior to Hell, what’s the point?

welcome to the hell difficulty, actually the last and hardest, mr casual. if u not know yet u always can have a strong merc and also a second option for attacks/spells to handle this, or u even consider to not play alone. and then respec after u geared up.
so what’s the point making hell as easy as nightmare? shall we just remove hell because its too hard ?

So you don’t like terror zones? Cool, don’t do them. I like jumping zones a whole lot better than waiting for the next Baal wave. I’ve gotten more and better drops and have noticed an increase to experience or at least no drop-off (Some TZ are kind of barren.) I’m content that they’ve given me an alternative to leveling that I prefer. Makes their mission effective, in my opinion. Nothing you argue can or will change that.

Throne is lvl 43 in Normal and 66 in NM. Den of Evil in Hell jumps up to level 79.

There is no reason to farm TZ normal/nightmare outside of Act bosses when their zones are Terrorized. Andy or Meph probability of being Terrorized while you play though.

Unless you are a melee build, gearing for A1 hell is pretty easy as you progress through NM. By the time you kill Baal to unlock TZs you should already be capable of farming A1/A2 level 85 zones…

Clearly oblivious of D2 history or the fact that universal immunities only exist in post 1.10 d2 and in no other iteration of the Diablo franchise.

There is nothing hard about bypassing 1/3 of the mobs. More of an annoyance than anything

The goal of TZ was an absolutely trash-mindset way of getting rid of the old lvl 99 grind. And to be honest it is successful in doing that. #1 lvl 99 SC ladder llama did it in record time and largely did it in P8 TZ’s.

Now there are a million reasons why I don’t like them. Look at the game list right now, every game is 1 or 2 players deep. The loot in TZ is clearly bugged in some way it does not operate in the normal way. TZ themselves are a DOGWATER way of fixing the grind. The charms that spawned from noobs who never had even a semi decent character complaining about hdin are also IMO a trash way of fixing balance between the chars.

But overall it did get rid of the 99 grind. A grind that I find worthless way back and still equally worthless now. It isn’t impressive or a milestone, just a grind. But they were successful in making it easier to get to 99.

Sekscaliber is a dev, confirmed.

I am sure everyone can manage the solo p8 experience online, just load up your 7 alts or call upon your streamer army

Any XP soloing P8 is far superior to XP split amongst 8 players. Especially when the clear speed is the same…

I’m not saying everyone can mimic the way he did it. I’m not saying even that the way is better, I did FANTASTIC doing diablo runs inside of baal runs last season. Hit 96 on several chars cuz I was solo. Didn’t care about levels, just like to MF, but still it was effective.

My point wasn’t that I like TZ, I think they’re lame AF and prove that the devs a trash tier developers. They simply modified old content. I don’t like that these trash charms spawned from their TZ experience. I don’t like that all of a sudden these charms are the reason they tried and failed to balance classes now. They should have been on that long before fixing the 99 grind because IMO the 99 grind isn’t nearly as important as otehr things they should have been fixing.

I just think that they did do exactly what they intended which was ease a 99 grind. And not only that, but now that it is this easy you can easily reciprocate being one of the players in the game for someoen going 99 grind because it doesn’t take nearly as long. BUT IMO these were absolutely the wrong ways to attempt to fix the problem

That’s what virtually everyone that can solo CS does in Baal runs once they get into the 90s.

Season 1 always had either a Hammerdin or infinity sorc/zon soloing CS in Baal runs. This now extends to more builds with Sunder as long as they have access to Teleport.
