Hi,
What do you think about farming the Tombs for HRs? Are the amount of mobs compared to lvl85 areas better for this reason?
I usually do Tunnels and Cows, and it was only yesterday when I tried my luck in the Tombs (and found several low runes and a green Kraken Shell
), whereas I have done about a hundred or so Tunnels/Cows runs and my luck there was quite bad.
Or if not Tombs what other areas do you think could be good?
I went there once and found an ohm lol.
If in doubt, try the âinfamousâ LK runs (Lower Kurast popping chests at campfires).
i have never, not once since d2r came out, found a single rune at the LK chests. i donât know why people keep talking like itâs a good spot to farm them.

Yes, you will find some HRs in there. Not all since itâs not high enough level.
I prefer opening the mobsâ chests and not the normal ones.

Itâs good if you are in single player with a static map and have one with the dual fires.
Doing them quickly can get you some decent runes. Itâs when you have to hunt for the fires on BNET that takes a long time and makes these not really worth the time.

There is a big misunderstanding about LK that needs to be cleared up. LK super chests are the highest probability place to farm HRs especially when factoring in time to farm, if you can get players 8. Thatâs the key matter, IF you can get players 8. If you are doing multiplayer or online and you are farming LK in 1-3 player games, itâs not going to be worth it, youâll be better off doing Chaos, Cows, the Tower, Arcane, etc.
The reason that LK is so great if you can get to p8 is because the super chests have a high probably (by comparison to everything else in the game - keep in mind this is still VERY LOW) to drop up to a Sur rune and the super chests are easy and quick to find.
Where LK really shines the most is in single player however, where you can set the game to p8, you can get a map with 2 of the super chest torch ring locations, lock that map in, and then you can just super quick make a game, go in, teleport to where you know they are, kick them open, leave, and rinse and repeat until you find several HRs. For online play, if you can find a set of Baal run games and get in on that, that typically works well. I have done this a couple times this week, probably done somewhere around 60-80 LK runs in Baal games and found a Mal and a Vex. Nothing outrageous, but it is pretty low effort.

It is good to know this, but my question was specifically the Tal Rasha Tombs as I am not sure if there is any other place where the mob count is as high as there (not to mention how easy is to kill them all quickly). I do not know the top hrs that can drop there and also the chances those mobs can drop hrs, but my assumption is that more mobs even with less chance of dropping hr is better than less mobs with greater chance.
Wherever you can clear the fastest that can drop most if not all of the runes will be the best place to farm HRs.
Cows is generally one of the best due to mob density and lack of resists.
I tend to like level 85 areas because they have more unique mobs to which I have a better chance of getting higher quality items as well as runes.
Generally speaking though, as long as you are enjoying what youâre farming and it isnât incredibly slowâŚyouâll be fine.
Reduce your expectations to zero, really do it. Gain this mind set and focus on enjoying the game, everything else becomes a bonus.
This is why I like HC, I pick areas to farm before hand, but my focus is on the combat and not dying.
Itâs the difference between watching a pot of water boil or not.
If youâre waiting for the item to drop(water to boil) it can feel like an eternity. If you focus on enjoying the game play (not watching) it becomes less of a grind with loot that happens to drop.

Yeah, the LK explanation was in response to the question about LK, sorry about that.
In regards to Tal Rashaâs Tombs: they are decent places, but not the best. What makes them good is that they have super chests in them that can drop up to a Lo and they have a lot of kickables and breakables that can very rarely also drop runes. They also have an very high monster density that includes the ghost monster type. Ghosts have a higher than normal chance of dropping runes. The TC of the Tombs is 80 which is one higher than that of the Arcane Sanctuary, so there is that, but I donât know that it makes that much of a difference. The regular monsters are probably limited to something like a Sur, but you would be able to get a rare drop of a Zod off of the elite monsters in the Tombs, I believe. All that said, the Arcane Sanctuary and the Chaos Sanctuary are better places to farm for runes because they always have ghosts, and they have bosses that have a purpose for killing them: the Summoner drops the Key of Hate, and Diablo has the Diablo drops. Even if you donât ever plan on doing the Ubers, you can trade the Key of Hates you collect for runes.
However, if you like doing the Tombs, and you can kill the monsters quickly and easily, by all means do it! Itâs not a terrible place to find runes, itâs just not the âbest, most efficientâ place. To be honest though, D2 is far too often filled with advice about âYou have to play this way because it is 1% better than the other way or youâre trash and you shouldnât even play.â The tombs arenât bad, they just arenât âthe bestâ.

Me neither and the process is the most boring of them all, I can barely stay awake to finish one run, let alone the many required.
And thank you Ryujin for the explanation. I play mostly solo as when I join pub games, someone else always snatches whatever unique or rune before I barely even see it.

The trick to joining public games is to go to areas that other people arenât playing. For example, if you join a Baal runs game, they are typically fine with you magic finding a different area while they do the Baal run. Of course, the catch is that you have to be able kill the monsters on a high player count. Or you could join a game like âSplit MFâ or âI Cow U Donâtâ type of thing.

Easiest is Tower, kill the ghosts, get some runes from countess.
Ancient Tunnels for cold
Arcane Sanc if you have the patience to wrangle up the ghosts and kill them over the floors.
Trav

If there is one feature of Diablo 3 that I desperately want to come to D2:R is when monsters drop their goodies in an obstructed area, be it the void in Arcane Sanctuary, next to a wall, a pillar or other object that blocks normal movement, the drops instead automatically move to and drop in the closest unobstructed area.
Do it Blizzard, you know you want to.

Also, dont understand why people do LK runs p8 on single player mode. Just hero edit yourself some runes at that point.
Canât remember how runes are rolled but having Cham and Zod blocked
Doesnât it make it better for rune finding?
It increases the odds of actual valuable runes by a bit
I donât play single player, but if I did the reason I would do LK runs on P8 would be because I would want to actually find the runes and not cheat using a hero editor. I imagine the same is true for those that actually play the game without using hacks and cheats.
