Sword-azon: Need some tips on equipment

Hey all,
I want to create a Sword-azon (primary weapon a sword). I know it isn’t her biggest asset, but I’d like to play around with it.
What info I’d like to hear from you D2 vets is perhaps:
What sword is best?
What shield?
What armor (belt, boots, helm)?
Or if you can point me to a site that already has some notes I would appreciate it.
Bear in mind that I’ll be doing this in SP mode since Online is a bit unstable at the present and starting from scratch to go through the 5 acts.
Kind of thinking that it will be a challenge but I’d like to hear some suggestions on equipment from the vets. I am just coming back to D2 from a long absence.
Thanks in advance,
LL

I don’t think that’s an good idea, i mean melee at all is difficult for zone, and Not having access to jab should make it extreme hard. If you want to play melee zone i really would go with spear and jab, but even that is more suitable as second char when you have some equip.

If you’re now starting into ressurected i would absoluty play a mainstream build, and exotic later on.

For zone that would be Javazone, Frostmaiden or just classic bow.

Also if you play solo self found all the Gear questions are pretty much obsolete, unless you use an editor . You won’t find that exact unique item.

Hey I’m not stopping you from you’re idea.
Just know that Amazons get really bad decreased block speed with anything in hand other than Javelins & Throwing Knives.
If you want melee efficiency on an Amazon, you should be using Jab/Fend with 1hand Javs or 2hand Spears.
You also could aim at trying a Bearzon with the Beast Runeword which allows you to Shapeshift into a Bear form. What you do is you precast the Beast shapeshift, and then you take off the Beast Runeword and put a set of javelins or a spear onto the Zon once it is in Bear form. You’ll still get all of your passive skills to work while in Bear form.

^ These are the only viable ways to play some kind of fun melee Zon. I highly advise against using Sword.

PaCHu & TSBoyer,
Thank you both for the information and advice. I believe you are correct on the Sword not being very viable. In the in-game use of sword only, I found myself having to revert back to bow/jav in order to get her out of melee situations alive. It would be a frustrating type of build with the sword as the threat levels increased.

However, the Bearzon does sound like fun once I get the basics and fundamentals of the class down! I like the shape-shifting aspect and it would be a departure from the norm.

I will do a mainstream build while working towards the Bearzon and get what all is needed for that build. Thank you both for some great advice as well as some info that I did not know! I am still researching D2R do’s and don’ts on builds so it is a learning process for me.
Much appreciated!
