I can’t get D2R online play through steam any more, does anyone know a workaround to use switch pro controller on pc for D2R?
Have you tried going into big picture mode and checking “Switch Configuration Support” under “Controller Settings”?
Edit: That’s weird…I can’t get it to work, either. Checking Switch Configuration Support just emulates mouse with the Pro Controller. Un-checking it turns it off completely. I’m afraid I’m stumped.
It emulates the mouse for me too, but when I try to open D2R through steam or even open the D2R exe from the source folder, it does not connect to bnet. I think the source of the problem is the exe. After the update, you have to open the game through the bnet launcher app in order to play online characters.
before the new terror zone patch. My xbox controller no longer works, and it doesn’t connect to bnet. only offline games. If I play through bnet launcher, can’t even use it properly. let me know if you find a solution. Seems like there is nothing atm.
If you have steam you can add D2R as a non steam game and then start it from there and then Switch Pro / PS controller works.
Else you need some other program that maps your controller from DirectInput to Xinput.
Ever since the update, adding d2r as a non steam game will not allow d2r to connect to bnet for online characters. Opening the game by exe seems to prevent this as well. The only current way to access online bnet characters is to launch d2r through the bnet app.
You need to add the battle net launcher to steam as a non steam game and then start D2R through the launcher which you launched from steam Launcher inception
This way it works for me.
I’ve tried it, it will load it, but then it won’t say I’m playing bnet launcher on steam, it will just stop playing while the bnet launcher stays open. I’ll try completely force closing the bnet launcher, then fresh launching it from steam and see if that works
Hi all,
Adding Battle Net Launcher to Steam and launching D2R from it did not work for me. The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller is not recognized by the game.
This situation is frustrating, and I have never had any problem with this controller but D2R.
Before the patch, it disconnects every few minutes, sometimes a few in a roll, and now, the Steam method doesn’t work anymore; the game refuses to connect online, and only offline mode is working.
From my research, this issue has been there since beta.
Edited: I finally got it working with Steam again, but it is wonky at every start. It seems there is a correct sequence to launch the game in order to let the proper game pad function to attach to the game.
If I launch from the Steam directly, the game won’t recognize the Xbox controller.
Found a solution for now! As HexOmega said, opening Bnet from Steam after a fresh restart on PC will run the steam controller configuration through D2R. First you have to have bnet completely closed either from restarting or from task manager, then just open the Bnet app through steam and it will load in the controller configurations. If you then run D2R from the Bnet launcher, it will keep the controller configuration even if steam does not say you are playing D2R.
I tried running battle.net launcher from steam. Once the launcher opens, my pro controller gets turned off immediately. If I use the mouse to start D2R from the launcher and then try turning the controller back on, the game doesn’t recognize the controller as a game pad and it acts as the mouse input instead. Is there something I am doing wrong? Or another fix?
Please help!
I am having the same issue. Can use my switch pro left joystick as a mouse cursor but not to move my character. Any1 can help pls?
