Does anybody know how to upgrade or add sockets to a grey (ethereal) superior Hellforge plate? It has 705 defense that’s why I try to put sockets or upgrade it. Thanks in advance.
well Tal Thul perf Topaz in Horadric Cube to have 50% on 4 Soc
or Larzuk for 100% 4 Soc
3Soc Chance is 16,67% in cube if you seek that
oh sorry just noticed it is superior. Only possible at Larzuk and 4 Soc
OH, I did try tal thul ptopaz and it did not work. So it’s because of “superior”? can I upgrade it?
Hellforge plate is an elite armor so no more upgrade and it’s superior so only Larzuk for 4 sockets
Thank you. You are very kind.
I overread that one, grey or white Items cant be upgraded in general. They can only be socketed
You cannot upgrade a grey/white item.
If the item is superior the only way to get sockets onto it if it did not roll with them already is to use the Larzuk quest in act 5 to socket it, You can do that once for each difficulty your character has completed his quest. It will always roll the max number of sockets that the item can have. You cannot use the socket cube recipe on a superior item.
The socket chance first depends on the item slot max socket count… Weapons=6, shields=4, armors=4, helms=3.
It then depends on the item itself, as far as the max number of possible sockets as well as the items level.
If you use the cube recipe to repair a low quality item, lets say a low quality Crystal Sword found in Hell difficulty, (which a normal Hell difficulty Crystal Sword can roll up to 6 sockets) the item level is set to 1, which results in the max socket count being 3 for that repaired Crystal Sword.
If you use the cube socket recipe on a weapon that can only roll a max of 3 sockets, it will have 2/3 chance of rolling 3 sockets and 1/6 chance for both 1 and 2 sockets.
If you use the recipe on an armor that can roll 4 sockets, it will only have 1/4 chance of 4 sockets.
It would be nice if the cube recipe worked with Superior items though.
i referred to the hellforge plate this wqas about ofc
