One of the things that I liked the idea of at the launch of Diablo 3 was the inferno difficulty. While the execution of the concept was poor in Diablo 3, I was always intrigued by the idea of having a new difficulty level that’s designed to challenge the best end-game setups.
I think that we can leverage concepts of Terror Zones to allow for a fourth difficulty. Let’s call this the ‘Terror’ difficulty Here’s how it can be implemented:
- Require the champion to defeat each act-end boss in a Terror Zone, or Ubers, or level 90 is reached. As long as one of these criterion is met, the Terror difficulty should be unlocked.
- The terror difficulty features enemies that are level 105 across the board. Champions will be 110, and uniques and bosses will be level 115. Their drop rates are the same as they would be in a level 99 terror zone. Only their difficulty will be improved.
- IT IS IMPORTANT THAT NO POWER CREEP ITEMS BE ADDED TO THIS DIFFICULTY.
Hope you all think this is a suggestion worth implementing.

Still no challenge and melee is getting the short end again.
It only forces the same meta builds and is another increase to xp gain. No thanks

Im for anything that brings threat of death. This game is unplayably easy at endgame. Almost like its designed to be played until you get a max setup then quit or build a new character or buy 8 accounts and multibox for actually difficult monsters or start real money trading like so many of the identities on these forums (and start using those identities to spam actual positive changes on these forums bc it threatons your RMT)
Blizzard could fix the 2 issues with one stone very very easily by allowing P8 mode on non-ladder bnet.
A. Bots and RMT businesses would die bc why would actual players BUY items with real dollars when its possible to farm them like the bots do? But with a lot of work. Its not easy on P8, but more realistic than negative drop chance on P1.
B. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: real players would have a REASON to solo, duo, or trio group with friends on bnet when monsters are much tougher. Top meta classes still need to be nerfed.
None of this likely bc blizzard earns income from slowly ban waving bots so those RMT businesses and individuals have to rebuy accounts to access P8.
Its a vicious cycle, the player is essentially ignored in the war between RMTers/multiboxers/bots and blizzard.
Most speakers on these forums will represent RMT side. Do not be fooled. Repost this topic on reddit, more likely to make an impact there sadly. And probably still a wash. Doesnt stop me from trying though.
I hope to one day play an actually hard D2R with my 80+ yr old father. (He 70 now and doesnt want to play much now bc he doesnt feel challenged)
I agree that the game needs to have some sort of serious challenge in the end game beyond ubers, but tacking on another difficulty is not the line we should pursue I think.
I would really like to see new content analogous to uber tristram. Making terror zones difficult would be another big step foreword.
Rifts would work very well in Diablo 2 as the game would benefit from new randomized maps and enemies as well as the ability to scale the difficulty up, but the I don’t think that the D2 community would welcome this addition per its Diablo 3 vibe, which I more than understand.
At the end of the day the game does need to feature some sort of challenge for SC battlenet players, and that’s something we really don’t have right now.
The game got too easy hasn’t it?
Let’s power creep more so the noobs can 1 shot everything

Please, one more difficulty level!!!
Terrorized Areas in an entire region (entire act)!!!
Choosing the number of offline players is the basis of the new mode or difficulty levels.
Indeed, a minimum players threshold slider is the solution to many of this game’s existing problems! It’s also incredibly simple to implement and has zero downsides!
Please add a new difficulty level!
One possibility is to transform the choice of number of players into difficulty levels.
Please, the Terror Zones should be expanded, terrorizing an entire region (an entire act).
Yup this is the truth, i agree
A bit too late its already done, just look at mosaic. Any further difficulty levels will just force the same old meta again, as long as things like mosaic exists and the class balance is still far from equal ill have to say no thanks
Who is talking about a robot? Or someone who wins with robots in the game? Players get bored when they reach the endgame because the game in Hell mode does not offer difficulty that provides a challenge. If you are not in this condition and are satisfied with repeating the same things thousands of times mechanically, you should rethink your human condition.
