Struggling to get to hell meph

Anyone have any suggestions to make getting to meph in hell diff a little more successful.

I am a 79 blizz sorc
spirit sword with ryme shield, lore, vipermagi
77 FHR
81 FCR
lightning res 75%
poison re 50%
fire res 26%
cold res 10%

682 life 497 def

I cant even tele though most of the time without getting killed by dolls. should I be focusing on res or armor or FHR? the maps are so big I chug through mana pots just to find the stairs. once I get to rhe stairs I have 0 issues. I just need to find a way to increase my chances of making it there.

any suggestions

Here’s how I handle dolls…

1: Don’t teleport, because it makes noise. Listen for the dolls bone rattle run.
2: When you hear them running to you, teleport back a bit, this will move your merc up. Walk back a bit to where you’ve already cleared to get out of their explosion radius.
3: Let them focus on your merc while you blast them with your skills.

Rinse and repeat.

I think u have to learn how to see the map
Lvl3 is always to the left from the exit way point block.
I’ve tele with 65%fcr without much issue but 105 fcr greatly help.

The problem with teleporting (and walk/run) in D2:R is if your mouse cursor gets off the outer edge of the map, the teleport fails or you stop running. In the original game, it’d still teleport you as far as it can to the edge of the map, or you’d just keep running until you’re up to the wall. It’s a bug.

I did watch the video on the map by mrlamasc, and I do go left (facing the exit of the wp tile) I feel like I get a lot of bad maps either that or I am doing it wrong but I am pretty sure i understand it

I have died so much that ressing my merc isnt always an option… that and his gear is not great. I suppose I could invest some time into gearing him up

I suggest a normal difficulty Act 2 Combat merc. (prayer, life regeneration)
Also any gear with life steal will help him survive more.

If he gets in it thick, all you have to do is teleport him away. :slight_smile:

Iirc correctly, Dolls damage increase the more people are around them. meaning, if you are not near your merc when/if they hit you, their damage is practically halved. When you teleport, you drag your merc along right beside you, and if you get hit in that instance, they do double their normal damage.

Don’t use merc for meph
Sometime u don’t go all th left wall. Just straight left till the left end then if its not there. Try see if there’s any other row corridor can go toward left.
If there’s non.
Go to the top right or top look for hallway pointing toward left.
Hope it helps.
The more u try u will starting to familiar with the tile.
Some tile are always dead-end, so once u saw their pattern u know its deadend

I didnt think of that… I have been following the wall left instead of just going straight left

That’s also a solution. Back in 1.09 I always teleported and immediately hit frost nova if I heard bone rattles. Usually enough time to get away unscathed.

Ure looking the tile going to the left.
Don’t need search left wall.
Just search the tile have possibility pointing to the left

I haven’t played a Sorc in many, many years, so forgive me if this is a dumb idea, but why not use Spirit for a shield as well? Wouldn’t that be much better than rhyme? Also an Act 2 merc with Insight should be better.

Also, I notice you said that once you get to the stairs you have 0 issues. Are you doing this for farming Meph? If so, I guess my best suggestion is just to skip it altogether for now. The Durance of Hate can be really hard for casters because of the dolls, so instead, if you aren’t already doing it, replace this farm with Pit runs in Act 1. Literally every item can drop in the Pit, the monsters are significantly easier to kill, and you can teleport there so fast. Then you can do Chaos and whatever other farms you were doing, until you are geared up better to handle the dolls more effectively. This is what a friend of mine who regularly plays a Hammerdin does and also struggles with dolls.

If he has no other source of the “Cannot be Frozen” Rhyme is the way.

I cant do chaos or the pit due to cold immunes I do run the ancient tunnels though it is an 85 zone with no cold immunes.

I do have the runes for insight shield but have not found a 4 soc monacrh yet sadly. I supposed I could focus on tunnels and hell cows for now

Literally the only thing that affects a sorc when chilled is her walk/run speed. Besides, she can teleport. The cast rate is not affected by being slowed.

I use the most underrated merc helm in the game. Delerium. It procs confuse, mind blast, and terror. This helm has kept my teleporting sorc alive more times than I can count.

I’m aware of that. It all depends on his mana pool. If it is depleted too fast, it really sux getting cold damaged.

mana is 316 with 45% regen mana

316 is not much imo. I usually have double of that around your level. Do you use any mana charms at all?
