Stop whining “changes will ruin the economy!”… no it won’t, economy is adaptive, only your preconceived notion of D2 economy will be ruined

You are trying to bring D3 QoL to D2 and it’s just not wanted and not possible w/o causing more of the server issues we already have in D2R.

D2R is broken right now basically from trying to change things.
You most likely didn’t play much original D2 and only now with so many new people are seeing how difficult the game is as is and all you can think is to make a lot of changes.

Sekscalibure is captain obvious

Thank you Sekscalibure

Please keep your promises Blizzard and do not change the game. Spend your time fixing the new technical problems you’ve introduced to the game. Then, spend your time implementing the features which existed before which you failed to implement. Then, spend your time apologizing. Nothing else.

Blizzard never made that promise, in fact they never made a promise at all

All they said it that it I’ll be the same game… “ON LAUNCH”

We are prior to launch now, roll in the improvements please

So you instantly contradict yourself and admit that they have failed to deliver on their promises. Thank you, captain obvious!

How dumb must one be

100% agree with OP.

Market works itself out automatically. If HR drops are modified and become more common and price drops, then price drops. It’s not gonna kill your account.

No it isn’t. Which is why once most anyone gets to the level of loot I had, they quit. Its why seasons were a thing. I’ve only ever made suggestions about D2 to improve its longevity. Its community is going to dry up to the small, but passionate, fanbase it was. Were you playing D2 all this time? Then by all means, keep going, with the other 9,999 of that crowd.

And that is your choice to stop playing when you get your loot. If you find it boring after you get your loot that seems like a YOU problem.

But it will change the game and make it boring that HR’s come easily and quickly.

Most will play till they can do Hell Baal and quit, going back to candy crush and other dumb phone games.

You’re assuming these “go back to d3” people can read above a 2nd grade level. Usually they see something regarding loot and they jump to go back to d3. It’s quite primitive and unique to observe. I kind of want to start studying them to be able to observe when they first learn to use tools and create fire. We live in a magical world don’t we?

I’ve got some backlash for saying that but I totally assume it but I always found the “go back to D3” is the Diablo equivalent of “go back to your country”

Which is particularly funny when said to people that have been there since the beginning

True. Historically, loot is rare in D2 but botting and/or duping rampant. So loot does not rain from the sky but the trade economy was flooded with items due to cheating. Therefore, good items literally rained from the sky it was just bots that were providing than while legitimate players had the slow grind.

There is another possibility you can play D2 while we play D2R where the PTR blog post confirmed that D2R will continue evolve.

:100:

D3 is a boogeyman for those that can not defend their position and whose arguments have no merit.

:100:

Blizzard never promised no change to the game. In fact, in interview after interview after interview pre-release, they were adamant that more changes were possible if the players wanted them. Blizzard REAFFRIMED that commitment in their PTR blog post.

It’s more akin to the " Go back to Retail # no changes " Vanilla WoW crowd but close enough .

Which it wasn’t.

Keep going, captain obvious. Pot meet kettle.

IF it takes you 1 day to grind out diablo 3 and bore yourself. That’s on you. Last I time played diablo 3. It took me probably 2 weeks to finish off the season challenges. And that got me 1 character equpped.

But then again. I play like your average Human player and play the game only as long as it stays interesting. I have no interest in becoming Mark Zuckerberg, for digital worthless items and burning out on it in 1 day.

Which BTW, if you want to keep D2 economy, Go back to D2 or Plugy. It is there for you.

Let D2R cater itself to real human players.

Your current drop rate on HR, see’s me uninstall the game within a month… maybe to get an itch to uninstall it again in a year from now.

The Drop rate I want, would probably keep me playing 6x longer that I currently do between those uninstalls.

The Drop rate I want, lets me enjoy Diablo 2 progression, while leaving some time open to mix it up and try to play the rest of my 75% off Sale Backlog of games.

When the Economy wants you to dedicate your life to just 1 game to progress, You’re stupid and wrong about it.

This line says it all.

“Value” is determined by access and its usefulness. If it’s suddenly made accessible to everyone, it’s no longer “valuable”, but rather just useful. (like a microwave oven opposed to a Lamborghini)

Rarity of an item increases its “value” in trading because it’s not freely available for use.

Economics 101

I’m quite surprised in this age where it’s almost impossible to obtain a GPU at MSRP
some people are still thinking this isn’t the case.

The game becomes boring because the HR’s don’t come at all for me. So I never even get 1 character equipped with end game gear.

Imagine if the HR’s came at a rate that would make it reasonable for a average player like me to equip every type of build possible without having to share those items between my characters?

So I get bored and uninstall before I even finish my 1 necromancer characters build off…
VS a HR drop rate that would see me making EVERY build type out there.

You think I would be satisfied making just 1 Enigma? I’m not satisfied because I’ve never even made 1. You can shove that economy up your a.s.s.

Why does Diablo 2 economy need to have real world value outside of the game, outside of just the singular player, regardless of Multiplayer influences? The value of the game is to enjoy it.

The low drop rates aren’t enjoyable to people outside of your Mark Zuckerberg types.

I’m playing Diablo 2 to snag 3xxx gpu’s.

The fact that you would try to make the comparison as though, it’s a good thing that GPU’s are so scarce and driving the price up… Is rediculous.

I’d prefer everyone could afford a 3090 for no more than $300… You want 3090’s to cost 5k.

Time is money. And you want a Diablo 2 that doesn’t respect the players time.

You can finish the game on multiple builds with nothing more valuable than a mal rune. With things like Hoz going down in value it is getting even easier to do this.

Maybe you don’t realize quite how easy the game is with all of the end game gear available to you?

D2r is far more respectful to a players time than a lot of games that release now. You don’t need the end game gg super bis gear to have fun and finish d2.

It doesn’t. The “economy” was created by players outside of the game, not by Blizzard.

That’s why it’s got a real-world value.

PS, I don’t even engage in the RMT, but I do understand how economics work

Now you’re making an assumption about me personally, when you have no idea who I am or what I do. And I can tell you, you’re actually wrong here. Because I personally don’t look at every waking minute with a currency symbol floating above it.

I’m simply explaining how basic economics ties into how the player economy works, because people somehow think Blizzard is “at fault” or something an economy that was created by the players.
