if any items are going to be changed in-game it should be reworks of trashy uniques, let’s be honest with how many runewords there are now and how many of them are just infinitely better than most uniques, adding more only takes away from MFing.
People complain about grief’s damage, however a suggestion I think could work is allowing flat damage to roll on rares and give it on some uniques as well.
incase people weren’t aware, there are many item bases without unique or set versions. google diablo 2 treasure classes, the purediablo link shows which item bases have sets/uniques. youll see how empty the set one is and how maybe 50% of the unique one is filled. plenty of space to add new ones if blizzard is against balancing the old ones.
Uniques are not supposed to be the most powerful items in the game. That belongs to Magic(blue) items.
Rares have the most affixes.
Uniques have Unique Affixes.
Uniques were never meant to have the most powerful affixes.
Runewords were just supposed to be a supplement item that allows people to create items to help them complete the game and make the game easier by allowing them to craft runewords to fulfill niche aspects of a build.
With how hard it is to collect HRs from SSF standpoint, runewords are rightfully the strongest in the game. We went from a time prior to 1.10 where folks complained about how trash runewords were and not enough itemization differentiation from classic d2 to now folks complaining runewords are too OP…
If you’re complaining because you’re playing in public games where there is unlimited trading and everyone is decked out in hotos, griefs, enigmas, mosaics, etc then I suggest selecting “non-expansion” the next time you’re at the character creation sceeen.
Agree, no more runewords, I think the game need more social activities, like: Join party, and do something to farm together, is very funny.
It’s not hard to find HRs at all, it’s tedious repeating the same content but it’s not difficult.
my complaint stems from the fact that getting tal thul ort amn is stronger than almost anything you can find, what’s the point in magic find at all when there’s only like 4-5 good uniques that are worth something.
Yeah, classic assassin is my fav.
Probably something to do with some of the strongest items in the game being Magic/Rare
Also there are quite a few builds that don’t use spirit, or at most use it paired with a CTA on swap. I’d suggest stop only making the same 4 builds…
I almost only play stupid builds, the games a million years old lol
Just curious as to the Spirit comment TBH. I mean the weapon is a good early/mid game options, and the shield IS used in a number of end game builds, but it’s not like there aren’t builds that either don’t use a shield at all, or don’t have stronger options.
I mean Facetted J-Mod, Exile, Phoenix, Homunculus, Dream, Stormshield, Herald of Zakarum, and Trang-Oul’s Wing all see usage in various end game builds.
Spirit(shield) is very good, but it’s not like there aren’t better performing/rarer options for a lot of builds.
The funny part is a lot of people immediately think Cold Sorc and Hammerdin when they think “Spirit”, but at the end game a Facetted J-Mod(or even a plain old Facetted Monarch) and HoZ outperform it on those builds.
Stop asking for things to be stopped…
Anyways jokes on you they don’t even look at these forums lol
True. Runewords kinda ruined the experience with “spirit”, “grief”, “mosaic”, just to name a few.
With spirit shild or Grief weapon, about 50 uniques and sets were killed instantly. No need to farm or use them at all.
kinda proves my point, these 4 easy to find runes completely ruin 90% of the items you’ll find on your way to endgame.
My dude you can’t even make a spirit shield on a non pally until you’ve basically beaten the game anyway. At that point yeah it’s nice for sure, but only for caster builds, and even for a lot of those it’s still just a setting stone.
I mean after you beat Hell Baal, it’s just a min-max fest anyway, so it’s not like any of those items would have been your goal post anyway. I do wish spirit wasn’t the best for “any” build, but it could be worse.
Imo, they should stop making new runewords and instead update a few to make them either usable, more of a option to use instead of Enigma or Fortitude. These 2 runewords imo ruin the endgame experience due to them being almost a must have for most/all builds in the game. I would like to see the class armor runewords get an upgrade of some kind such as keep it’s current details but add a chance to get a boost or cast a random ability that is part of any build. For example if crafting a sorc armor - have something like +5% chance to cast skill (level of the random skill will depend on character level). I would also say if the armor created belongs to a Assassin or Amazon add a + Dexterity (amount depends on character level). If Barb or Paladin add a + Strength (again depends on level). If Druid, Necro or sorc add a + Energy (same thing)
I’m not saying make them stronger than Enigma but at least make them a option.
People say anything is viable to play through the game with, I get that but the same old items are practically used for every build because others are either trash or not as strong. Not all items need to be stronger, as strong or less but they do need to have a balance to them.
Personally, I have played this game for years but am still confused as to how MrLLamaSC beat the whole game as a Punch Barb with trash gear. I’ve had characters with gear struggle. People will say its skill but when your character is getting hit by strong monsters and you survive as a melee, skill becomes luck and imo MrLLamaSC has both when he plays and I admire him for it to a degree.
I would, and did for season 0 & 1, but the lack of a shared stash makes it unplayable for anything but PC online & very difficult there.
so these 4 runes completely destroy the chance of ever finding a useful weapon until the endgame for the majority of the builds, cause only zon can’t really use spirit sword properly, every other class can be a caster.
More unique alternatives for both melee and caster would be fun to find while leveling up, I’m not saying make it a contender for the end game(I would love that more good uniques though) but at least make finding items along the way something that can Possibly be enjoyable.
really? magic ones?
that’s just … wrong I’m sorry
i mean sure you have 40/15 and jewelers monarch of deflection
and whale and colusus stuff… but to try to say " its supposed to be the most powerful".
its absolutely not… there are extremely rare cases where it is true, but even then. its for things like pvp, or you are putting facets (uniques) IN those items to make them useful.
runewords are designed to be the strongest. for any slot with sockets
blizzard has absolute no intention of the “average person” having their best item be “blue”
i rather see old uniques/sets buffed and be competitive than getting new RWs
Honestly, there’s a few runewords which need some help too. I would prefer if uniques were fixed first, but some of the original runewords being made useful again would be nice.
Just curious, how did you feel about dual wielding changes to melee characters?
Because with that and tomb viper nerf, they made the last of the godly blue items nothing but stuff for the trashbin.
I doubt you are familiar with how you used to be able to use offhand mechanics, and a couple of blue items to hit 3fpa attacks, or how you could use blue items to completely nullify old tomb viper damage.
Alas, I imagine many in here were totally fine with what they did to dual wielding (aka how much the nerfed the snot out of it), or do you even know this happened?
