Static when sound off

Does anyone else like to watch movies or something while playing D2 and have the sound off for it? When I have the sound completely off for D2, it always creates this staticky hum in my speakers. I can minimize the D2 window and it goes away. Bring it back up and the hum is back. I mean it’s not super loud of anything, but it’s super annoying. I can’t get rid of it. It’s driving me nuts tbh.

Am I the only one?

Does it happen in other games?

As far as my sound preferences with D2:R, I have pretty much everything as quiet as it can go while being audible with the exception for item drop noises… Helps for hunting dem hi roons and other goodies.

I have no problems. I like to watch YouTube when i play.

I mean, a little with other games but it’s very pronounced with D2R.

I suggest checking for updated audio drivers. Other than that, a hum is usually attributed to a grounding issue.

I’ve heard this before when the system cases front headphone/mic audio cable is plugged into the motherboard audio header, its usually if the cable is unshielded, which makes it act like an antenna picking up EM noise from your system components. If unplugging it helps, you can try rerouting the cable behind the motherboard mounting plate (if you can) which should better shield it from EM noise.

Another interesting note – it goes away when I play cinematics.
edit: Took out the DisplayPort cord and connected using HDMI instead, buzzing is gone – or at least minimized.

Enable FPS cap (60 or less) in the settings, it may go away.
