I’m currently 76 in hell. My Sorc is way too squishy for my taste, i need to pimp up a little the res but when they are physical archer i’m literally 2 shots.
I wonder, will up my dex a little and wear a spirit ward could help survivability or is there a better one?
Here are my gear for now.
tal rash head
vipermagi
magefist
alder boots
tal rash belt
tal rash orb
monarch spirit
amulet +11 res +1 skill etc…
2 ring +30% MF
190 strength
80 dexterity
210 vita
55 energy
It is not worth pumping dex for blocking on spirit shields imo. Drop strength to 156 and Dex to base, add to Vit. Drop the MF rings or run Nightmare/Hell Meph to get better items. Ravenfrost/Dwarf star would help a lot.
Make sure you are walking and not running, running your defence is set to 0.
It’s not surprising archers 2 shot you, your gear is not that great and Hell archers are a challenge for any Sorc.
don’t get hit! that’s what tele is for.
Every time you play your sorc think this before you leave town

You can make your sorc more tanky with tals set and max block if you want but imo you don’t really need it. and that my que time done woohoo bb
Spirit ward is not a spirit shield, it’s a unique one, seems pretty beefy.
oh… I thought you were going to try to make a Spirit in a Ward (not even sure if that’s possible actually). LOL.
Ummmm… it’s a good defensive shield but Spirit runeword has great resists and other defensive (FHR) stats. Stormshield is also excellent with 35% damage reduction and you can actually max block with this pretty easily
It is. Ward is one of the three non-paladin shields that can roll 4 sockets.
It’s just not worth making a Spirit in because it has a higher strength requirement than Monarch.
Non-paladin shields that can get 4 sockets:
Ward - 185 str req
Aegis - 219 str req
Monarch - 156 str req

I did look to the list of the best unique shield, and stormshield and spirit ward are the 2 best.
Good damage reduce on stormshield but no resist, no damage reduce on spirit ward but 30-40 to all resist. + the 5% chance to activate fade is amazing in my opinion.
I don’t know i will look at that. do you know the average price of those?
This is all you need to know.
Max your resistances (through charms) and just avoid hits.
Skipping bad unique-packs are always an option aswell.
Think about your rings, 30% mf is nice, but if you want to beat hell, try to look for res and keep this rings for later mfing when you’ve beaten hell.
Sanctuary runeword (KoKoMal) is also a decent shield. Only a 3 socket so you can make it in a lower strength base like a Troll Nest or something. Gets up to 70 all res (rolls in a range from 50-70). Needs a Mal rune though.
Don’t waste dex, start mfing alot till you get your shako, that will improve your survivability alot! Also you should get all your resistances to 75 or as close to that as possible.
Use your merc to tank mobs for you. Don’t teleport wildly, that will get you killed alot.
Imo this is not worth it when you got a spirit monarch.

up your dex, use an elded stormshield, presto 75 block rate. if you still want to use 105 fcr you may need to switch around some gear.
With this gear? drop even more skills through changing spirit monarch? Doenst sound good to me.
Edit: Max block isnt really needed imo. You can think about max block when porting baal runs or cs but not for a playthrough.

If i understand the game correctly my 2 main spell (frozen orb/firewall) have a cooldown so people told me that FCR doesn’t change the cooldown.
Correct. The cooldown is still the same.
It does let you teleport faster though. Those few extra frames make a big difference when teleporting through areas with enemies. Can be the difference between being hit and not being hit.
Faster teleport animation = less likely to be hit when you teleport near enemies.
Getting up to 105 FCR can help your survivability.
make a delerium helm for merc asap and you will have a much easier life as a sorc.

Delerium procs confuse, terror, and mindblast. You don’t need life leech if the monsters are not attacking you.
