Spawning DClone: Time for "Regulation"

Blizzard needs to come up with an automated regulation on how many SOJ sales need to happen for DClone to walk. He’s been walking like crazy lately, I’ve seen times as low as 10 minutes between walks, which is beyond stupid.

Blizzard needs to pick a “target” number of dclone walks within a certain time period.

  • If there have been less walks within that time period, the number of SoJ sales to walk is linearly reduced below the “normal target” amount.
  • If there have been more walks within that time period, the number of SoJ sales to walk is exponentially increased. This increase would decay as time goes on without walks.
  • There would still need to be a fixed minimum number of SoJ sales, but I don’t think there needs to be a maximum, just for the sake of regulation working properly.

Dclone doesn’t need to be walking every 15-20 minutes. It’s becoming annoying.

I don’t think that this is a good idea since walks are global and not everybody plays at the same time.

Revamp the whole spawn mechanism to something else or leave it as it is.

Well if you don’t think it’s a good idea, then please, offer a better one. Something needs to happen.

I dont know… i played a lot since release and never found a single SOJ. The notion that hundreds are being quickly sold all the time has always surprised me. I honestly dont think this mechanic ever made sense. It should be a weekly spawn instead on Friday nights or Sunday afternoons.

Spawn 1 clone in 1 game.

or

Remove selling items to spawn dclone and let it spawn when you have cleared a random amount of mobs in a single game. Number > 2 act clears.

or

make it similar to torch, have some unique mobs drop minor shards which you have to combine for clone spawn.

i’ve played since release and probably found 100 sojs. our experiences are different and you’re probably mfing like a complete ape.

i’m sick of you people that say “they have played since release” and then talk about the things you haven’t found. you have not been playing the game the entire time. i bet not even a majority of the time, probably a huge minority of the last 20 odd years it’s been out.

so don’t talk like you’ve played the game a lot when, if you had, you would’ve found a soj by now, hell sometimes i find 4 or 5 in a few months…

the only item i haven’t found is tyreals might, and i have played since release. not the whole time, probably not even half the time, but when i do, i go hard. and i find stuff… not even a soj? bruh. i’ve found at least 6 in d2:r.

The detrolled translation of this is…

“You’re probably not mfing nightmare Andariel.”

Edit: The Manslator works on trolls too! Bwahahaha!

yeah on the Discord it seems like he’s popping off on Ladder constantly. As an NL player (would love to play Ladder if they gave us more character slots…) the spawns are pretty slow, but your suggestion wouldn’t slow them down when they’re already slow, so if anything that might help! Mostly I think the spawns come from organized streamers though, vs. “natural progression” of people selling on their own, so it may not make much of a difference in the “speeding up” side of things.

Yeah that was the general idea… Speed them up when they’re slow, slow them down when they’re fast. Regulation.

There is no issue with the spawning requirements. They are still an absurd amount as ever and no legit player on their own will ever be able to spawn him, as designed Im sure.

Its a coordinated, group effort, funded by trading and botting and running andy on NM over and over.

The issue you actually should be focused on is the aforementioned botting lol, thats why hes spawning so much.

Oh if focusing on that issue actually did anything…

Good point though… Blizzard is taking notes I hope… rofl

Well, we can agree that without the bots, there is no way he would be walking as much as he currently is…

Well, if the walk rate/SoJ sell requirement was self-regulated, it’d help with the absence of bots.

Possibly it is just a seasonal effect wich will dimish greatly next month? If Dclone would walk from now on every 10 minutes I’m certain Blizzard would do something. But in the holiday season? Thats actually a nice gimmick.

I wish he walked in HC as much as he walks in SC…I guess it’s harder to dupe things in HC

That aside I would like to see the mechanic change to something more realistic. Without the ‘excess SoJ’s’ out there you can’t make him walk.

What they need to do is change the way he spawns. Currently its selling x amount of soj’s. This encourages duping as there is no way as many times as he walks they are self found.
So, either they need to monitor and record who is selling which may be afew and follow items back to duper in which case when they remove that guy another will just step in or they could remove selling soj’s and have some event in just the game being played triggers him to walk similar to d3 when the big guy walks that shakes the controller. sorry for not knowing who he is but havent played d3 in 6 or 7 years but hes the one that has the fog horn and shakes the controller.
Not only soj’s are being duped like crazy but high runes are being duped then rolled into next higher rune to perm it.
Something does need to be done.

I’d love to see your proof of currently working dupe methods.

Those walks are mostly started by streamers who gather most sojs via donations and trading. This late in ladder most people who want to wear sojs are already equipped with those and can spare the extra sojs for trades and walks.

Cooley has a video on YT about it. There is indeed a working dupe method.

that only works with items that has multiple stats and on ladder reset. Not really something that would explain ladder sojs.

The reason it keeps showing up laterly has to do with streamers, they just stream and summon Dclone for views. And it is also the streamer who decide where they gonna summon the DClone, rather it’s ladder or Non ladder.

It has nothing to do with how many sojs to be sold in order to summon Dclone.
