I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a persistent issue that I have been facing in diablo 2 resurrected. Despite my consistent efforts to report and address the matter, I continue to receive a high volume of friend invitation requests from other player accounts that are unmistakably spam, operated by bots.
I understand that blizzard is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable gaming experience for all users. However, the ongoing nature of this issue has raised doubts about the effectiveness of the current measures in place to combat such spamming activities. Despite my numerous attempts to report these accounts as spam, they keep reappearing, suggesting that the current system may not be sufficiently deterring these malicious activities.
I have taken the necessary steps to report these accounts, hoping that blizzard would take appropriate action to prevent further disturbances. Unfortunately, the lack of tangible results has left me frustrated and concerned about the overall security and quality of my gaming experience.
I am particularly perplexed by the seeming ineffectiveness of the block feature. If there is indeed a limit to the number of accounts that can be blocked, this limitation only compounds the problem, as these spam accounts seem to evade the consequences of their actions and continue to disrupt my game-play.
I urge Diablo 2 resurrected team to take this matter seriously and implement stronger measures to address this issue. As a dedicated player who values the Diablo 2 resurrected community, I believe it is crucial to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all users. I implore you to investigate this matter further, reassess the current methods of tackling spam accounts, and take swift action to ensure a spam-free gaming experience. Is it possible for the company to consider increasing the limitation of the blocking list to accommodate such situations?
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I appreciate your prompt response and actions in resolving this issue.

The only way that works to stop the spam problem is to play solo or with trusted friends… Don’t enter the game lobby chat, don’t join any public games with randos. I know, it’s stupid.
Blizzard doesn’t care about the player generated problems that are ruining the multiplayer aspect of this game. They might as well toss the EULA out the window, because they rarely enforce it. We all know why, it’s because it costs money to enforce the EULA, and since the majority of players who are interested in Diablo 2 have already bought D2:R, the game doesn’t make them money any more. The only way the game generates revenue is when they ban bots every ~6 months, and they turn around and rebuy the game with new accounts.
Our only hope of anything is through automation… The one thing that might help is if they were to enable the two week VPN bans like they do with the original game, which worked wonderfully to keep the spam bots at bay, with the side effect of 2-week banning players that forgot to turn their VPN off before firing up the game.
P.S. If you’re looking for a direct response from Blizzard, don’t count on it. They very rarely respond to inquiries in this forum.
My initial approach was to contact customer support and share my concerns. However, the game master advised me to submit feedback and suggestions on the Diablo II Resurrected forums, highlighting that community managers actively monitor threads and relay information to the development team. I really hope they could do something about it!
The CMs might read the forums, but don’t expect a response. I’m sure it’s more them just “skimming” the forums as well, looking for any threads of interest. The CMs attention is more focused on the forums for games that generate revenue… WoW, Diablo 4 (for now), or any other games that are receiving active support and attention.
Don’t expect anything to happen with the spam bot issue in D2:R any time soon™.
The spam problem went on for many many years in the original game before they finally implemented the automatic two-week VPN ban solution. I quit playing the original game back in 2012 because of the spam issue, which by that time it had already been going on for several years. It was 5 years later in 2017, they finally did something about it.
The two week VPN ban solution was a crude, but effective solution to the problem. Unfortunately people that used VPNs for legitimate reasons got caught in the crossfire.
I’m hopeful that they will promptly embrace a positive change in their approach and take swift actions. I’ve fulfilled my part to the best of my abilities. Thank you for your replies. Much appreciated~
i think the only thing you can do, is spend the least amount of time possible in their “LOBBY” so the bots can’t get your acct name. not sure that’s how it works but it doesn’t happen to me and i idle in game. because LOBBY is one of the dumbest things they’ve ever given us
