Spam bots (reposted)

thanks to the mall cop for taking the time to delete my post instead of “editing” and addressing the problem.

what are you guys doing to address the spam bots? still having the same old problem? i don’t understand how you cant implement basic filters and flags to get rid of these people. maybe hire a moderator?

-account has no levelled characters
-account has character(s) with no name/dfsfuhsdufibsfgisbag
-character sits in lobby for hours, pasting the same messages into the box and doing this every 2 minutes. how about ban links to and every variation they come up with lol? cant type a swear word, so i know you can figure this out.
i cant type the link in this message, but i can in the game. GG morons
-reporting them does nothing, or takes forever for someone to deal with it. they probably just delete the character or suspend the account, how about delete the account, and ban on hardware level?
-why doesn’t the block feature stop them from displaying text to you lol? they can even spam into the private games sometimes. this would be super easy… everyone just blocks them and their talking to nobody now…
-maybe if you “cant” afford to hire a single moderator, give elevated notification rights to some people who ARE reporting them reliably, so their reports get dealt with faster.

im no computer technician but i know you can do SOMETHING.

You do realize that you are helping them advertise right? And that reposting moderated content can get you a forum vacation?

MVPs are other players, not mods. My suggestion to you as a fellow player is to edit the name out of your title, remove the reference to mods, and move your thread to General Discussion. You can do all that under the edit pencil.

the lobby needs some upgrades for sure. not sure why we cant click the name in chat and put them on ignore. I have to type out a command like /ignore and the name or /squelch. Ive block., reported, and put on ignore so many of these already.

The Block function seems to be bugged and even when you report people, it does not temp ignore the person like it does in other Blizzard games.

well hope they fix that soon. lot of little upgrades are needed to that lobby in my opinion.
these sellers are making these ridiculous long names I think to try and make it harder to put them on ignore too. like there was one the other night with ffffffffffffffff as a name. makes it a lot harder to type that out when you have to try and carefully count how many F’s are there

I moved this from the Technical Support forums to General Discussion as it does not involve localized technical troubleshooting. Feel free to continue the discussion here.

IM helping them advertise… lol ok, not nearly as much as them being let on the platform unchecked. maybe if your forum is posted with the issues someoen will deal with it.

i dont care if your MVP, go ahead and threaten me for reposting something that disappeared like our items and characters. im not the one with a problem, posting obscene material, you edit it if its so bad. maybe give a notice before you delete peoples stuff so they know. this forum is mostly people yelling at a wall anyway.

im looking for a moderator or tech support ok?, this is a technical problem lol, not general discussion. what are you doing to solve the techincal issues here. im not looking to talk with random people about what we are doing. WHAT ARE YOU DOING.

any tech people on the forum? and moderators?

and i know the block feature isnt working, HELLO thanks for reminding me, what is being done to fix the TECH ISSUES, THE BAD PROGRAMMING, THE MISSING OBVIOUS FEATURE. i know the things broken FFS

There is no reason anyone should be able to post websites in d2 chat. It’s so much more trouble than it’s worth.

i cant put the link in the chat talking about the issue, or ill get my post ghost deleted and threatened with a VaCaTiOn, but you can spam it IN GAME. lol

I mean it’s not surprising from the company censoring jokes in its games to distract from their workplace harassment.

What they are doing is spamming the channels to get the message out. Getting people to know that a shop exists where they could get their precious items is more valuable than a $40 d2r account.

Having the url sitting on top of the official diablo 2 resurrected forums is immeasurable for the shop owners. They’re probably popping the champagne corks right now.

why is there even a discussion. remove the bots and RMTers

i know what they are doing. obviously they dont care about the $, but it sure helps if you attack them at a hardware level instead of letting them advertise in the lobby on a different character or after a short ban. your going to have to remake your computer to get around it.

my one post, in the tech section isn’t advertising anything. moving it to the general discussion would make it even more visible if you guys actually think im advertising for them somehow. popping champagne… lol please. more like, WOW they dont even have a single moderator in the lobby, and the report takes like 2 days. SWEET LET’ER RIP. lets copy paste every couple mins

this website is a nuisance. i was watching day one videos of Amazon’s new MMO, New World on Asmongold’s stream and there were p2pah spammers in the new player areas of that game’s launch in the game chat.

I gather you did not read the part where MVPs are just other players. I can’t edit or mod anything. Only Blues, Blizzard staff, can.

Well, you got one. The Tech Support team moved it to General Discussion and did not even bother to edit the title to remove the website.

You might help them indirectly. You could raise this issue without mentioning specific websites.

The fact is blizzard does care about someone calling someone something in the chat. Yet right now there is a bot spamming some website like 5 times per second infinitely. All it needs is one person to check the logs or check the lobby chats for 30 minutes and permanently ban these accounts from chats or just in general permanently ban the account. These website wont buy 100 keys just to spam the chat if they all get banned. If the accounts are stolen then too bad for those who gave their account information to a stranger either on purpose or thinking they were dealing with someone from blizzard.

Edit: That said the title of this topic could be edited to be just about spam bots.

Blizzard probably won’t hire anyone to sit in the lobby and ban spammers, and they probably won’t trust any of us to be moderators. That just leaves reporting, so keep reporting. I know it seems pointless, but if we send Blizzard enough useful reports, there’s a better chance they’ll actually do something.

As I said in another post about this particular spammer. They are hosted by godaddy.
Send an email to abuse@godaddy and wait for the automated system to reply with the form to fill out. If we all do a whois on the domains they use and they are US based or in a country that isn’t actively trying to screw with the US and send abuse reports to them, they will run out of hosts.

They don’t need to hire anyone to moderate. All they need to do is assign one guy to check the chat for 30 minutes and they can manually ban all these spammers for good.
