Wondering if there has been any fixes found or changes from beta to assist with this issue? I had hoped that this would be dealt with before release…now looking like i cannot play the game. Whitelisting the .exe or entire folder does not resolve this issue.
I play on a work laptop (with approval ofc) that has Sophos Endpoint installed which is managed by a 3rd party IT. I cannot switch it on/off at will.
Anyone else have this issue or find a solution?

Rhaal,
Typically this type of issue is going to be due to out of date definitions or something of that nature. I’d contact your IT and see if they can update Sophos definitions or reinstall the software. If reinstallation fails, usually you’d need to uninstall the software until the definitions get updated, but since you can’t do that the next best bet would be to report the conflict to Sophos support.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the response. I’ll give this a go. Do you know whether changes have been made since beta with the way D2R interacts with Sophos?

Rhaal,
I wouldn’t have any specific insight into that unfortunately besides my general knowledge of how things work with most security programs. More likely we have changed something, and your current security definitions don’t expect the specific files we’re using to be performing specific behaviors. We don’t interact directly WITH a security program - the security program acts UPON us when it thinks something fishy is going on. (Games access things all over a PC, and if Sophos doesn’t realize the latest build of our game is still a game, it’ll worry that’s virus behavior.) Security programs get more authority over what the OS does than an application like ours, and typically all that needs to be done is a quick definition update to resolve it.
I’m curious - will someone from the company be reaching out to Sophos to have this included in the updates? I would guess you guys would have better luck getting this resolved than general users.
SolFire,
In general, no. We don’t have a business relationship with these companies in most cases. Users of their products are the stakeholders since they actively use the security software and in most cases pay for it. They’re more likely to pay attention to the people who pay them mentioning problems.
That said, do keep in mind that often you just need to update your definitions when you see this. We aren’t getting an absolute ton of contacts on this, so it’s possible your Sophos is just out of date or corrupted. I’d run a definitions update on your end and try reinstalling the application if it fails. If it’s still having problems after, that’s when you want to reach out to Sophos for help.
