Why can’t we get stackable runes/gems/keys? D4 gets it but why can’t D2 get it? Are they doing this on purpose so people gravitate towards that D4 disaster.
Pretty sure if people are playing D2 currently they probably are not playing D4 and won’t, especially after that recent campfire chat turning it into D3 Resurrected.
It is because D2 isn’t D4. 2 different games with different aspects and different ways to play the game.
Inventory management is part of D2. The remaster came along with shared stash tabs and bigger stashes already.
You can’t compare these 2 games. Just because they are related, they are still 2 different games.
I don’t get why people always compare D2 with other ARPG’s…
Two trolls who are probably D3/D4 players, no wonder you both got your post history on private. It’s the same 2 people who have a lot to say but a whole lotta nothing.
Anyways, I’ll put my energy elsewhere and not give you any attention. Clearly both of you haven’t probably touched D2 and let alone know what a remaster is.
If asking on forums for dev’s to give us stacking triggers you so much then just don’t go on here. Thinking you can lecture people on what the difference between D2 and D4 and a remaster.
Some people will never understand what a remaster is and what it brings in terms of quality of life. I’m still waiting for a clear answer why can’t they give us stacking of gems/runes/keys.
Why troll? Please explain further. Also, you know nothing about me. Not even bought D4 xD
It doesn’t trigger me, I just gave my opinion. You’re just another one who cant handle other peoples opinion in a PUBLIC forum.
You’re the one who is triggerd from my opinion.
I gave you a reason, inventory management.
Always been part of D2. Check classic.
In D2R we already got pure luxery compared to the original game. Maybe you check out what a remaster is.
People with lots of experience know what items to keep and not. No point to keep every 4os pole. Make some value out of useful things you don’t need, or maybe you could probably eventually need in 2 years…
It’s a hurdle, and every game has a hurdle, doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Read and check some stuff, get more knowledge and you know what to keep
Imagine instead of having 100 slots + 2 shared tabs that also have 100 slots each, only having 48 slots in stash and no shared one.
Wish this forum could shadow one of their developers… it isn’t easy, it isn’t cheap and it would generate zero return for blizz with d2r. You think they will sell more than 70 new copies by implementing this? I want stacking but these sorta requests are all pipedreams.
Hey at least one can only dream right? It’s worth a shot being loud about it here on the forums and elsewhere. It wouldn’t cost them anything to allow stacking of runes and gems.
PD2 aka Project Diablo 2 did it and it’s a handful of maybe 5-10 devs who work on it each season and they’ve done it for free, I don’t see why would blizztard have such a difficult time implementing this into D2R.
Ask any shareholder of any publicly traded company what their preference is when it comes to the company they are invested in spending time working for free (or doing nothing at all) versus spending time working to make money.
If you’re that hard up for stacking of runes and gems in Diablo 2, then go play Project Diablo 2.
If you’re solely wanting stacking gems and runes in D2:R just because D2:R has better graphics… Give it time. The hackers will surely find a way to integrate D2:R graphics into their mods. The requirement of course is that you own the game(s) needed to make it work.
The answer is extremely simply. D2R could have this feature. However, development costs money. D2R isn’t making them any money so they don’t fund development. D4 makes them money so it actively gets more development. You can’t compare D2R to mods because mods are passion projects by fans who don’t expect to be paid. People who work at Blizzard expect to be paid for their work.
because you can have 4 or 5 pockets and you go around with whatever you can carry in them !
is anything stackable in reality ?
speaking for myself, I am so very tired and bored of games that have nothing to do with reality, where damage is inexplicable and where random items have unexplaned properties
like being able to teleport? Call meteors from the heavens? Raise the undead? Have strange auras, both offensive and defensive? Having bashing with a shield as the most overpowered attack skill even though weapons are available? Like having magic hammers spin around you in circles? Like summoning golems? Like turning into a werewolf or -bear? Like throwing a little stick and it turning into a thunderstorm?
With the addition of trading and farming, the decision to keep a small stash was harder to justify. But yes, the large stash was a mistake. There is an important reason why classic D2 had a very small stash, it gets you thinking more about what you will carry, making each item more precious. The idea of carrying every item you want makes the whole point of an inventory meaningless, which is why WoW and D4 inventories don’t make a lot of sense. For modern game design, inventories are relics from a forgotten age that linger because the new modern designers are roleploying as old designers which is humorous since they are working on role playing games…
We’ve had discussions before. I was sure they can take it (in good humour).
I stack my paper money all the time. Takes up next to no space. You shoudl try that!
what do you think takes up more space: A piece of full plate armour (2x3 in d2) or 6
chipped little gems?
In d2, both the same. In reality? You can carry the 6 chippies inside your fist.
And if you want reality, you should add encumberance! you can place 5 full plate armours in your inv! Not even Arnold Schwarzenegger would be able to carry that. Let alone a little sorc.
And changing that armour irl could take 20 minutes.
Weapon swapping. Strange thing. Where the alt weapon+shield hidden while not in use?
A thin spear takes up more space than full armour?
You can place up to six runes into a spear or a bow. Therefore the runes must be really small. Kinda like gems maybe?! Now we’re back to my fist from above.
You see, inv (management) already is lightyears away from realistic.
It doesn’t have to be stacks of hundreds or thousands. For runes, stacks of 5 or 10 would probably be sufficient for most players. For gems, I’d wager 20 would be great. Special keys could go by stacks of 3. Not sure for essences, tokens, and organs, but as you can see it doesn’t need to be massive amounts to be meaningful.
if you go too far with this the feeling is different
there are games where you may stack everything from stones to armors… they usually use weight to define what you can carry… there is no such mechanic in D2, you manage your space not the weight you carry… it just a different approach, a much better one afaiac…
and yes, even if you teleport or you raise skeletons, stacking stones or charms would reduce the convention about fantasy realism that I find acceptable in my mind
