How we do this? I used a PS4 controller on PC and it took me a while to figure out how to pot the mercenary. (Which is same with Xbox controller.)
But I’d like to figure out how to buy potions / scroll in bulk to refill tome.
Anyone knows?
—CASE SOLVED—
Case solved, with DSTool (More known as DS4Windows), A mac version also exist, but I’m not into MacOS. (I assume it would be the same, however.) for PS4 controller, I’ve made a Diablo II profile, and I’ve bounded L1 (Left shoulder button) to emulate shift, since the key does nothing else in the game.
All it was doing was showing items, which is the alt function on keyboard. This is not needed for shopping with NPC, Blizzard could of have easily a second function to that button. Thanks @ArmorVil for pointing something leading me to solve the problem.
JoyToKey seems to work out as well. However it seems more “Xbox / third party” friendly as it uses the default game-pad X inputs.

I feel bad for console player who got to click 20 times for refilling the Tome of Town Portal or identify or potions one by one at the time, this was a huge drag.
My feedback would be to do a patch that would include a secondary input to the left shoulder left button, known as L1.
The only way to do it right now is by using an external program like JoyToKey : set your L2 (left shoulder) button so that it also acts as Left Shift, then it will work. I don’t understand how the devs forgot to give it this function since it already works as left shift because you can use it to give potions to your merc (though it’s a bit annoying in shops because holding L2 will change the shop’s tab. So you need to be on the leftmost tab before holding L2 so it switches to the item tab to allow you to buy scrolls & potions in bulk – I guess the devs could fix this by only allowing L2 or R2 to switch tabs if you tap them, not hold them). With this setup, you can also instantly put potions from your inventory into your belt without having to drag them one by one, it’s pretty good.
It’s not quite what I’m talking about that Firetail, and you and just hover over the belt in inventory and pressing down right trigger to auto fill belt… ^^;
On keyboard you can hold shift and right click potion from shop, and filled your entire rows of life or mana pots. Just trying to emulate that on controller too.
Yeah you can also do Left trigger (like swapping to sub skill palette) and use potion as well, this is how you give pots to the mercenary.
