Solution aka charm inventory

There is a hot topic right now. Separate charm inventory is something most people want next as there is no space to pick up new items. The reason is inventory full of charms being the meta.

However separate charms inventory is controversial for purists as it eliminates mechanic of inventory management.

Another thing is more additional inventory means having a lot of supplies that trivializes the game (imagine running around with inventory full of charms and full of rejuvs and antindotes [well good thing is melee could use it for thawing juice]).

My idea is to create an obtainable bigger horadric cube in nightmare and even bigger in hell. We all know that cube in inventory is a backpack for our characters anyway.

This way we get more space as we progress through the game. More crafting recipies can be created. Mixing yellow polearms with 6 skulls becomes available.

Now there is a reason to go and get cube in NM and Hell. There was no reason to go for hallways of the dead before in these difficulties. For those who do not want spend extra time to get better cube it is not obligatory. You can still finish the game with a cube from normal difficulty and get the better one later.

Another thing - charms do not work in cube, you cant drink potions directly from a cube so game does not become much easier.

Next thing. Right now people have to open inventory to get item from the ground to the cube. A nice addition would be to have optional QOL - put item in the cube if inventory is full. At the same time sound of horadric cube should be played so player knows where to search for picked up item.

I have to admit - I do not know how does it go with lore. I am not a lore guy so I apologize if ithis would be in a conflict with it. What do you think? Having objections are welcomed to.

if you store less charms in your inventory, you will have space to pick up items. there is also this thing called “horadric cube”, it can also store some items. have to make choices and set priorities in life and so you do in ROLE-PLAYING GAMES.
many games wants you to make decisions, start with a weight system ends up in inventory management. part of the game, and people like you asking for candy spoiled over a 20yo cake to make them more appealing to noobs who could just play whatever other game that has their noob features, while others hate it.

inventory management is the dumbest thing in all games

how people can stomache playing with the only free space being there cube is bewildering, i usually dont have that problem because i never have skillers lol, mine is typically filled with potions and resist charms

i for one support the separate charm space, give us ALL the space they can code in

yes, you want a bigger cube aka more room for items

I don’t like the term “inventory management” regarding the stupid, annoying and autistic activity you do 1-3 times during a single run of your choice if you only have 2x4 of space left.

the game is not good because it has this activity it is good although it has this terrible charm system.

a separate charm system would fix this system and the “purists” will never complain about it because the advantages to general gameplay are obvious.

They will. Believe me.

I think this works well as a solution. I think a seperate charm bag would be better personally I would like to see the game move away from charms and more into gear diversity. My thought was to limit chaims to a 4x4 or a 4x5 chr bag and make jewels be able to roll +to random skill affixes to counter the loss of skillers and make socket items have more value good example being gris set.

But I do agree as the simplest less invasive solution what you put forward would solve the main issue and probably piss off less people.

That was exactly my goal.

Solving as many problems as possible with as little changes as possible.

Lol, no.
Theres already a feature in D2R that auto picks item from ground to cube, its a hotkey function on Console. Just play with a controller on PC and it should be available.
Also all these clowns that cant bot anymore and not able to do “inventory management” will be doing twice the inventory management if this charm bag or bigger cube is introduced.
Every character doesnt need to be min/maxed. Take some skillers out of your inventory, put ID scrolls in belt and put on one of those fancy sling rings. Or better yet, stop picking up and hoarding trash.

Im not touching a controller.

Why so aggressive it is not even mine urge to have separate inventory. This idea is something in between. I do not pick up trash and still have to go back to town because my cube is full of amethysts skulls and shards.

It is about comfort. To pick up rares yellows thac can be good. Also it would be comfortable to pick all blue jewels and going with them to Cain instead of identifying one by one with scrolls and throwing the on the ground.

nonononono

you dont get it

you get to be a better player by sorting items in your inventory

dont you feel morally superior now, huh?

tbh this feels like half solution

i just want to loot more items before needing to open my inventory

And thats exactly what it is about. QOL - putting items in cube automatically if inventory is full. Also I didnt mention how big the cube would be. Like

Norm - 3x4

NM - 6x8

Hell - 8x10

I am sure that 8x10 would be enough for picked up items. This is bigger than ald LOD stash. But the exact size is for another debate.

tbf that could work

but they would have to adapt the cube display in currency tabs

Ah ye true. I forgot about that.

As a player since the beginning of D2, I’d be all for a charm inventory or bigger cube. People act like inventory management is a skill - it isn’t. It’s just a massive inconvenience and it’s tedious to deal with. The obvious solution is to make this change in RotW and leave LoD the way it is. That way the “purists” can just stick to LoD, as I’m sure all of the other RotW changes and Warlock class upsets them enough already.

As a purist, I’m overjoyed by this idea. I really like the idea of an upgraded cube. Maybe limit normal to 2x2, and go up from there, with hell cube being 8x8 or something.

Inventory management has always been a key mechanic to D2. D3+4 have diluted this mechanic so the normies didn’t cry as much, but it is key here.

Really cool idea. You have my support.

a really, brain damaged meta i will never understand.

hell no to charm inventory.

I have an empty cube and 24 open boxes in my inventory. I guess im a just better at optimizing my character than you are. No need for a charm inventory. Get over it.

charm inventory is just a matter of time

gladly the naysayers will remain in expansion
